I'm trying to track down the history of my 328. The individual that I purchased the car from (2nd owner) says the car was purchased new in the Nashville area by a country music star and later purchased by the individual I purchased the car from. I have zero history on the car other than the Carfax. Does anyone have any advice to offer to assist in my search?

You'll likely get little (or no) information from the dealership, if it even still exists. Service records aren't something that would be shared with anyone but the customer who bought the services - while it is your car NOW, you've no particular claim to the business transactions done by a prior owner. While it's perfectly fine for a customer to share the service records when selling the car, quite different for the shop to share these records with the third party.

I found solid info on my car’s history and ownership by searching the chassis number on Fchat. A previous owner was quite active on this forum. Good luck!

If it was purchased new in Nashville area there should be details of the local dealer in the sales & service organisation book that came with the car - as noted in #2 that may not help much

@DLCNC to my best knowledge there is only one official Ferrari dealer in Tennessee during 1985 to 1989 period : Thoroughbred Motorcars Inc in Nashville.

But your car could be sold and delivered by any other Ferraru dealer from Georgia, Mississippi etc...With the serial number of the car we could get more information

Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately I got very little paperwork with the car other than the original owner’s manual. I got an incredible deal in the car so it wasn’t a deal breaker that I didn’t get a well documented car. The serial number is ZFFXA20A4G0064649

For what it’s worth BMW dealerships have shared extensive information with me. Original owner PII redacted.

Correct. Not much of a Ferrari dealership. More like a Porsche dealership with one or two Ferraris.

If Nashville had a factory authorized dealer in the 80's, this is the first I am hearing of it. I'm sure your car was sold new somewhere else and just ended up in Nashville early on.

Email the Ferrari Market Letter. I'm sure they have something on it, especially if it was sold new out of the southeast.

I was asking Bertrand if he has any record of that VIN. Do you? It doesn't show up on any of my records.

I would have to look when I get home but I doubt it. I focused on 80-82 2Vi cars

Does your owner’s manual have any handwritten notes in it about where it was originally purchased? I believe mine does. Also, if you sign up for the Ferrari owner’s app, your local dealer will reach out to you about services offered, but I suppose you could call them and they may be able to tell you the same information.

With this being said, I’ve been trying to get a response from a very well known dealer for the past two months that originally sold my car, but they haven’t gotten around to it and it’s only been lip service about them getting to it “next week.” I presume this is because I’m not local and will not be using their services in the foreseeable future. Best of luck!

Madison Smith Naturally was a Nashville based dealer in the 1980's. Likely not an 'official' Ferrari dealer, but my 1975 GT4 came out of there NEW, so maybe?

But the left edge of the page was signed off by Ken McKay at Chinetti the importer. The was not standard practice. To me it supports the idea it was an unusual deal.

Who knows. I was born in 1985 haha.

I did call them though (MSN), they're still a dealer in some capacity, but everyone there currently wasn't aware of their past vintage (well, now) era car dealings.
