Interesting one hour show on the National Geographic channel tonight about the Ferrari factory, and the construction of the 599. Very impressive. The show supposedly will repeat this weekend.

Just got done watching it. VERY interesting and amazing program. I learned lots about the Ferrari factory and their ways of constructing a car. I loved the fact they used the brand new 599 as the basis for their documentary!

Yes, TG for TiVo. That was a very good show. It gives you a lot more appreciation for what kind of technology and passion goes into a new F Car. I didn't realize that a sand cast is used for one run only. Makes sense but I did'nt realize that.

Great show. I found it amazing that they use a new mold for every engine.

Did you listen to the engine sound of the 599 in the show? It sounds almost like the old 12cyl.'s

They said people only wait two years for their cars...they must be the lucky ones.

Good show, a few technical blunders, but interesting. (Half the cars they show on the assembly line while they are talking about the 599 are 430s.) Very interesting to watch the process in casting and building the engine.

Nice insight to the workings of the Factory. More of a Ferrari advertisment and especially as the company expect the North American market to buy the most 599's. We don't have programmes like this aired in the UK.

I liked the show. But, I was wondering where the old buildings were? That is where is the old gate where the Cavalllino is across the street? It seems like the overhead shot shows much newer buildings. I was trying to see if the gate has changed since "Grand Prix" when James Garner's character tried to get his old job back driving for Ferrari.

Don't worry, the old gate is still there. Also the Cavallino restaurant.

BTW: I was really impressed by this report. Ferrari's are still true works of art. Much hand-crafting involved even today. However, I was also relieved to see how much high-tech they use where appropriate and how much quality control they do.

    Great report indeed!
