I just wanted to get some opinions on the Navion - seems like a lot of plane for the money and built like a brick sh!thouse. I've thought of getting one but have yet to pull the trigger. Does anyone have any input, feedback or experiences they can share?

    Thanks,

    Art S.

I'm no expert on the Navion, having flown one for a short time, but my impression was that it was extremely easy to fly, very stabile and smooth with well balanced controls, very sturdy, and reliable. Has a certain aura about it since it was designed to emulate the P-51.

While I have heard that they are great to fly and a heck of a lot of plane for the money, I suspect the maintenance is off the charts. Any thoughts on this?

Look for the later models, the "G" model (I think it's called the Rangemaster)

Pay special attention to what propeller it has on it to 1 - make sure that it isn't one for which there are AD's and which you can't get parts for and 2 - That someone hasn't installed an unapproved propeller to address #1.

I think some of the engine combinations are problematic as well. (why do geared engines come to mind?)

Anyway, Great flying birds and yew, they're built like the proverbial brick privy.
