Go Portland! Hailing from the city of roses, and having endured some rough times with the NBA since 2001, the past season was a breath of fresh air. Next year is going to be insane with the number 1 pick.

I still think that while Oden is the safe pick, Durant is going to be one of those guys that people will talk about for decades to come.

Better go with Oden, Durant is too risky, what if he is a bust, will define Portland for a long time if they mess this one up... I am just bummed my bobcats only got the 8th, but feeling worse for the Celtics, man they are in trouble

Oden is a beast, no doubt about it. Once he gets better endurance, he will be the next Shaq. The Blazers are one lucky team, the Celtics are screwed for the time being. That Chinese dude looks good, Yi something.

he is getting mixed reviews, it will be interesting to see where he goes, some say he will fall past 10, others say he will be the 3rd pick, no one knows until June 28th

I think he is, Yi looks sharp in video, but he is probably much older than 19. Very explosive from what I have seen, but its going to be interesting when he hits real competition. He has a stroke though and supposedly isn't shy of contact either.

I'm still not the biggest Oden fan around. He got pushed around a TON in college by guys that were 6'8" and twenty pounds lighter than him. Nobody ever seems to mention that much, but I watched a lot of his games this year. I know his wrist was a problem, but why is his conditioning so bad? I just don't see that evil streak that great players usually have. He seems too soft spoken. Tim Duncan is the same way, but his post moves are dazzling, and he carried Wake Forest on his back for a few years. Oden is very mechanical on offense, despite his raw athleticism.

I see him as a 15, 12 and 3 kind of guy, vs Durant will likely be a 25 point per game scorer for most of his career.

yes i was talking about yi, and 15, 12, 3 consistantly are really good averages, I think that his impact in games will be more then his stats though, and lets remember he is 19 years old no matter how old he looks, and it is easy to say someone from china is older then they actually are, so we dont know how old yi is... he could be 17 either way.

I dont trust Durant to put up 25 in the NBA just yet, as much as I like him, he is skinny and look at adam morrison, aka the big mistake of the bobcats, he averaged 28 in college, and well he is probably the most incosistant player on the bobcats, one night he will win the game for us and score 28 when ricky davis and randy foye are getting in his face, everything seems to go in, and then the next night he will score 2 on 1 of 14 shooting. pathetic. I only hope adam can give us a little more consistancy next year, and I hope Durant doesnt fall into the same catigory.

As for oden, I am kinda with you, I have seen him play, thought he was pretty good, but not spectacular, I never saw a play, except for maybe a few dunks and blocks, that screamed this guy is going to be a superstar... but I didnt watch to many of his games and generally scouts know more then I do

I agree that Oden's impact is going to be more on the defensive end. ESPN had him as the best center prospect since Patrick Ewing. For some reason I don't see him having a bigger career than shaq or zo' and think thats unfair to him actually.

Actually, now that I think of it, he is a good comparison to Zo', who's defense was well ahead of his offense when he got in the league. With similar physical attributes. Zo definitely did learn to play offense though, and Oden is bigger by a few inches. I heard he tested at a 38 inch vertical a few weeks ago, and has been working hard on it.

Morrison's problem is overall lack of quickness and athleticism. A great college player, but none of his skills transfer very well to the pro's. He can't really create his own shot etc, and guys his size in the league are much faster and stronger.

Durant has much more of a pro game in my eyes, reminds me of a funky cross between Dirk and Carmelo with his ball handling and ability to create from just about anywhere. He won't score 25 per game his rookie year, though 20 wouldn't be a stretch, but after a few years, he is going to be a big time scorer, there really isn't a shortcoming or way to stop him offensively. He has range to the NBA 3 point line. Can shoot off the dribble, has a decent post game, and handles the ball like a gaurd. Plus he came up with some huge games this year despite near constant double and tripple teams, so he is used to dealing with it. I think he had 2 games of 37 points and 23 rebounds, pretty crazy in college.

Yi is intriguing to me though, another Dirk clone in my eyes, there is a video of him working out on ESPN right now which shows a lot more of his game than I saw before.

I hate the lottery system. I understand the reasons for it, but it just seems too "random".

It's supposed to keep teams from tanking the last 10-15 games SOLELY to get the #1 pick. It worked, since we know Boston tanked at least one game, and who knows how many others.

Also, I'm not sure of the exact numbers, if you have the worst record, you get like 200 shots at #1, the second-worse team gets like 125 shots, the third worst team gets like 75, and so on down. Being the worst team just means you have more chances at a #1 pick, and not that you WILL get the #1 pick.

Oden - I see him as just being another Robert Parrish/Rasheed Wallace type.

Durant - I see him as being a Scottie Pippen/almost Nowitzki type of player.

I don't see either one as bing the 'franchise player' so many other people do. Good, steady players, yes, but not as dominant as some think.

I like it, Boston as a franchise has purposely tanked their season twice now to try and get the number 1 pick, and both times it bit them in the a**. Serves them right......

Though I do agree it has some pitfalls, I remember when Orlando was basically a playoff team and got the number 1 two years in a row and turned them into Shaq and Penny.

Yeah, I just can't believe Memphis or Boston couldn't get a top 3 pick. I do understand that basketball is very differenet in terms of where one player can really make you better. I know hockey has a lottery setup, but it works differently.

I kinda have to disagree with you here, the kid is skinny no doubt, I have met him (he is also kinda nasty looking) but he can create his own shot. I watched almost every bobcats game this season, he has a good first step, and when he is hot, he will make EVERY shot he takes. I swear one shot he could not have seen the basket when he shot it and made it, then came down the court and sunk another three from maybe 8 or 9 feet behind the line. He loves that stuff, but he cannot do it consistantly. In the game I was telling you about we were down by 15 at the end of the third, we won, purely because he shot every shot for the last 10 shots and okafor was playing some nasty defense. Adam Morrison could be a real legit NBA threat... IF (thats the problem) he got consistant. He has some pretty neat post moves to crazy shots that look like they wont go in that drop. Overall I am disapointed in him, but he still has a chance to do very well

its nice when you win, very bad when you lose, overall I think it is better then going by records, 10x more tanking
