yeah, but you think they'd go for the money grab when the economy isn't in the toilet (and therefore fans are less likely to revolt).

    this

The state of the economy means nothing to these guys, it has zero affect on them...their bank accounts are loaded to the T, none of them lost their jobs due to the economy, they can still buy whatever they want whenever they want wherever they want....a long work stoppage may actually bring them back down to reality, and by the looks of it that is exactly what is going to happen (the long work stoppage that is)

I'm not sure I'd say ANY sport is 'sitting pretty' right now, NONE really are.

Partially true. The NFL player that is a college GRADUATE in anything besides Phys Ed has a clue and has been saving/investing all along, they are fine.
It's the morons that run around with a 'crew' or the rookies that are low-paid but live in/play for New York or Chicago that are hurt, because it is not cheap to live in those cities - even on a rookie salary.

Now, the 'brothers' that have no clue - hope they all go bankrupt, because they deserve it, they have been warned for TWO YEARS this was coming.

DUH. For some reason I wrote NFL above, I meant NBA.

Yeah it must be real hard to get by when the 2010 rookie minimum salary was $325k...

I think the biggest players hurt are the fresh out of college rookies or even worse any un-drafted free agents that were hoping to get enough time in training camp to try and earn a spot on a roster.

I know, I think the same: it would be 'hard' for us to live on 325K, BUT, we don't have to give 10-18% to an agent, pay union dues, have higher tax rates and live in an expensive environment (city), quite frankly a Pro athlete is not like a 'normal' person, I realize that.

What I get a kick out of are all the college guys that pretty much quit school as soon as (their) bowl game is done.

Where did Cam Newton get the money to go work out all over the country for 3 months? How did he live? Who paid for it?
I realize AFTER your last game your eligibility is up, but not BEFORE that game, and not for underclassman.

I'm still asking how these guys can get expenses-paid trips to be on the stage for awards ceremonies? How can they afford to go to NYC for a week? Isn't this a violation of NCAA rules?
It ESPECIALLY should be if you are an underclassman and plan on returning to college for subsequent season, it HAS to be against the rules to take ANY freebie, and that includes award ceremony trips.
