I heard some Raptor Fans were actually cheering when KD went down...perhaps this motivated a tired, old and broken down team that was on the ropes...I still think the Warriors have a tall task ahead...BUT, I have seen them do this before...
Exactly my thoughts about Kawhi. Coach is to blame for not calling a play that gets Kawhi the last shot
Yes they were at first. It was disgusting. Then a few Raptors players waved the crowd off and they quieted down but then cheered for Durant
Last shot should’ve Kawhi’s and ONLY Kawhi’s. Not sure how GSW won that game , but they did. Klay and Steph came up clutch when most of the world is against them. Skills pays the bills.
GS in 7 Raps had their chance tonight and couldn't seal the deal. GS regained their confidence and momentum.
That was a great Final’s game. Does it get any better than this???? KD comes back hot... reinjures himself. Raptors come back from a 14 pt deficit. Kawhi drops 10 points in a row late in the 4th! Splash Brothers going down shooting! 1 pt game, last shot, hits side of backboard. Wow!! This is playoff basketball gentlemen.
That would be legendary. At this point in the series, whether the Raps or GSW win, it will be Legendary.
Bob Myers just confirmed KD has just ruptured his achilles! Wow! This is disastrous! Who’s to blame?? Coaching staff? Doubtful fans??? Media??? Are you not entertained!!?? KD jeopardizing his career to prove a point. This is BIG. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
My brother sent me the same clip during the game and asked me why it looked like that. As a physician, it's pretty obvious the tendon snapped and muscle contracted with nothing holding it back. I don't blame KD at all. As a player, and a top one at that, they are always competitive and want to play no matter what. Similar to Jordan and the flu game, but not as serious as this. I blame Golden State staff, both coaching and trainers, to allow this to happen. I don't care if it was technically not achilles tendon injury (initially reported a month ago as calf), but rather myotendinous junction, it's stupid to risk this. I hope he will come back 100% next season, but who knows. I am always leery about athletes with the super skinny legs like a cat...they look like they can snap on their own.
Wow Toronto just choked. 15 seconds left and they had no real play to run. Scored only 2 points in the last 3 minutes and that from goal tending. GS in 7.
This is turning up to be the case of where the winner will define the true story of this league. Will this be about the story of a man who took the safe conventional approach that the that the majority of us mortals would make, not risking his health for a beloved dying franchise dynasty, moving on to another city, winning a championship with other city, and then moving on to yet another city to sign a Supermax free agent deal? Or will be this about the tragic hero that “risked it all” to play and save a dying franchise dynasty, and frankly may have “lost it all” (literally no chance of signing a free agent Supermax deal) due to a devastating injury, in an effort to possibly win an against the odds, down 1-3 championship? As Tyrion Lannister said, “ the world loves a good story...”
So sorry for Durant. He showed heart playing injured when his practices did not go well at all. Without his first half contributions GSW would not have won. Achilles is a terrible injury. Kobe and even Boogie how long it took him to recover and then one injury leads to another. Props to GSW down by 6 with 2:30 left and clutch shots by Steph and Klay. I was rooting for them at the end only because I didnt want the series to end. Glad to have one more game. Still rooting for TOR to close in game 7. Oracle should be nuts Thursday.
wow I made a correct prediction for once. gsw have 2 advantages - their 3pt shooters are better and they get more easy layups off set plays. raps level of difficulty for shot making is higher.
I saw the video. It was pretty clear he was hurt. When he got up they clapped louder and cheered Some may that it was to show appreciation for him in trying to stand up.
Yes, but it doesn’t explain all the folks that were seen and filmed mocking Durant by waving “bye bye to to him while he sat on the ground, not able to get up. Listen, There are bad behaving fans on every side of sports, Just like the partial owner/investor in the Warriors that pushed Lowry the other day at Oracle and got banned for a year and fined. Social media just makes these bad behaviors more lasting and permanent than in the past. However, Mocking someone who is seriously injured is never cool and it is a particularly sensitive subject to all the players (NBA, NFL, NHL, etc) who were watching the game, notable by all the social media posts by the athletes that were quite upset with the whole thing.
no fans caused the injury. no one spilled drink on floor, pushed anyone, or stuck out their leg. Durant wasn't unconscious or bleeding. he himself took a known risk to come back and got himself hurt. I see nothing wrong with rap fans cheering that hes out. its sports and theyre fan(atics) who want to win
Fans were caught up in the moment. As soon as they realized KD was in serious injury and had to be escorted to the locker, they started chanting, "KD...KD" in show of appreciation.
The KD debate is a fun one so let's share some more perspective from a fellow athlete (ok I'm pushing it but I played college level hockey). When KD went down I cheered. Why...well because when he went down it looked like a stolen ball and we got a hoop. In addition that when you are in the heat of the moment it happens. Most people would not know immediately who it was from where they were sitting and the seriousness of the injury. They would have however, once they knew who was, realized the outcome of "we have a chance". When you realize who it is and what happened it is not a cause for cheer. I'm very sad he went out and hope that they figure out internally why this happened. The Raptors team immediately began to tell the fans to stop and the chant of KD came out. Of course you can look at it how you want but we saw it from the comfort of our TV with friends. Not in a loud stadium full of fans who may or may not clearly see who or what happened. With that being said some of the fans were just a-holes. I saw the one guy waving "bye". That is a POS move.
Come on guys, sometimes we may stereotype in pure black and white with no grey. No one is painting a picture that all Raptor fans are classless human beings. If you watch the tape again, nothing wrong with cheering one way or another in the heat of the moment of the play. For example if a steal is made you cheer for it. however, what I am talking about is what is reflected from many Pro athlete’s opinions that have expressed a disgust and disdain for fans clearing cheering and mocking an injured man down on the court...that was going on with some fans. That is what the athletes have stated was disgusting. I am not a pro athlete, most of you are. It pro athletes either, so I doubt our opinions make share any real insight on why they felt this way. It’s great that most of us live in a place where differing opinions are allowed. Discussion of this is a whole new can of worms for P & R. But, saying that Durant’s injury was not significant and that he knew full well what he was risking by coming back and playing excuses some fans to be arseholes about it is not cool. Let’s take for example something we can all relate to. When someone backs their SUV into your new 488 Pista and your front end is all smashed up, I would imagine that most of us would Not be nonchalant about the situation. When the rubberneckers converge upon the site and many are laughing and jeering at the “F-d up Ferrari”, would that make you feel any better? If they say “serves him right for driving a car like that around here knowing full well what the risks are.” Or, “ ha ha, that is gonna cost a lot. Would that make you feel better. Isn’t this similar classless behavior to what some (but not all) of the fans were doing in Toronto? The athletes are not saying they all Toronto Fans are arseholes, rather that a little more empathy needs to be used in this world...Listen to what the pro athletes are saying about this specific incident, they can relate to how KD feels a lot more than any of us. It’s great that many Raptor fans cheered KD on when he was being helped off the court. I would imagine a lot of classfull Toronto fans did this because they felt bad about some of their fans poor behavior. This doesn’t excuse some of the fans’ poor behavior- just like the Warriors organization suspending and fining one of their part owners due to his actions of shoving Kyle Lowry-does not excuse that part owners’ poor behavior...
