We finally get a great F1 event in the US. Why the "F" can't they broadcast practices or qualifying real time? According to my Direct TV guide, qualifying will be tape delayed at 3:30-5:00 pst.

They said two weeks ago and after practice that qualifying would be on CNBC. I believe it was the exact same last year.

I don't recall hearing that at all, so I barely caught the last 3 minutes of Q3 on CNBC after reading the qualy thread. That really sucks. Plus the race will also be tape-delayed; no way it's at 5pm, right? And looked at CNBC and it's not there. And I agree; only freaking race in the US and they give us this delayed crap. Oh well. Have a good one folks.

It must be your area then. Although that doesn't make sense as it seems no one else has had a problem. I've had it recorded since last week, the race is live here in Houston via UVerse. F1 Countdown at Noon. Race at 1pm CST.

Thanks gang. Just checked, and it's in there indeed. It's frustrating having to check and follow every freaking NBC channel to see where the races are being broadcast; ridiculous. Just had the DVR set to record the NBCS1 channel. Guess next year will set up ALL OF THEM (MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, NBCS1, etc). Geez. Thanks again.

    NBC Sucks.

I'm proud not to support them. The only time I watch NBC is when I DVR a race,... and then I FFWD thru their advertisers.

I have no idea why NBC bought the US TV F1 rights... they don't seem interested in keeping the viewers they have, let alone getting new ones.

Anyone who watches live should take advantage of overseas internet links (free). The coverage is much better, and with no commercials.

WTF is going on. I just tuned in to watch quali at 3:30 PST on NBCSN and there's f*cking curling on!!! It says F1 qualifying on the screen, but its a bunch of guys with brooms glidding around on the ice. To make matters worse the ticker at the bottom is showing qualifying results?? So when and where can the race be viewed for sure?? Besides in Austin live !! If I miss quali and the race in my own country, I'm going Ted Kazinski on their ass.

Oh dear!..... Sorry guys, but you've gotta admit, that is pretty damn funny!

I noted that it may get pushed aside by the East Coast tiddlywinks preliminaries a while back - Would gave have been epic if I'd said ****ing curling!

I guess they have a more significant Icelandic population than there are F1 fans! ;)

All joking aside, wasn't it also on live "somewhere" in their lineup though?

    Cheers,
    Ian

10 minutes left in Q2, commercial break, then showing the final results?!?

They cannot possibly be this stupid.

I see it as an opportunity to publicly display the ignorance, incompetence, and indifference of the editing team. They certainly accomplished that..for..curling?

Yeah I just threw a **** fit in my basement. I cannot believe they bump quali for curling trials. Then delay the bumped broadcast for extra innings or whatever the hell they're called in curling. And then, cut out 2/3 of the damn session and go right to the results!!!!

Holy hell. As if showing the results on the bottom of the screen ever two second during the curling broadcast wasn't bad enough. Holy ****. How incompetent can a network be???

    :(

Again, I'm sorry to chuckle at your misery guys, but you've gotta see the funny side, surely!? ;)

That you even know how many innings (?) there are in curling is a little alarming in and of itself!.....

That does show a level of stupidity and incompetence that beggars belief.

I've got my feed sorted, but to be clear, the race is on live tomorrow, right? The big boy NBC channel IIRC?

    Good luck,
    Cheers,
    Ian

Yes they are. And It's not like they couldn't learn from their past efforts. A few months ago they [NBC Sports Network] tape delayed the Hungarian Grand Prix in order to provide live coverage of the Tour de France. As the delayed F1 race coverage was just about to begin, they ran a sports update that included the results of the Hungarian Grand Prix race that they were just about to broadcast.

    Epic failure.

It has to be an area thing. I watched all three qualifying sessions live.

I'm not sure I would blame NBC the network. It just doesn't make sense as it was on CNBC. Otherwise I'd think it was a local decision.

Right?? I almost taught my kids a slew of inappropriate words when the commercial ended and they were showing results. What a bunch of f'in clowns. Their incompetence knows no bounds.

we had live qualifying here, and then a rebroadcast later, and then the curling. It all was listed on various NBC schedules and TVRacer.com so it must be some of the local channels.

I saw qualifying live on CNBC just as the schedule states and plan to watch the race
    today on NBC.

Failing that, perhaps F-1 may return to ESPN, the network that cancelled
their F-1 contract in the middle of a season in order to show reruns of golf tournaments
from the 60's and 70's, a decision which was actually defended by network bosses.

I must admit I was pissed as hell as well but after reading some of the comments here, I have laughed like crazy, so I feel better. We are witnessing the true value of American sports priorities. :D

    What a fail.
