Probably like many of you, my husband turns glassy-eyed and practically starts to drool when he hears the sound of a Ferrari engine. With one child starting college next fall and another not far behind it will be a while before we can afford one, if ever. Would love to take him to a Ferrari event or better yet, give him the opportunity to ride in on for his birthday in November. I have been watching for events - what is the best way to find them and is there a chance I could arrange a ride for him in a Ferrari?

Steve - we can make this road up your way happen...what day of the week would work best and what would be involved?
I guess Saturdays or Sundays are probably easiest for us - does that work for you?

Saturdays are very easy for me...and some Sundays as well. All we have to do is keep in touch with me when it gets close to time...OR...

I suggest coming sooner...maybe make the present a bit early. The weather is nice now, and with the exception of an occasional thunderstorm you don't have to worry about the weather.

We don't have a lot of events around the Thanksgiving / Christmas time of the year but maybe you could come out to one of the events we have coming up in the next few weeks.

Keep your eye open in this forum and you will see as events get planned. Also check out www.fca-nc.com, that's the official Ferrari Club website for the NC Region.

    Ciao'

I am a little closer...Greenville, SC. If you guys are down this way, My Ferrari is open for a ride. Never mind the weather, my car is always on the road. Also, I am in Asheville quite often...Maybe we could schedule something then.

I'm in Hickory, NC and have the super cheap version of the e30 M3. Try to stop drooling. :D

He needs a ride in Dave's car, that is...once it's got a clutch.

Since, everybody is offering I will do so as well. Although I am currently trying to sell one or both of the 360 Spiders, I suspect I will still have the silver one because of the miles I have put on it. I am in Statesville, about another half hour drive past Hickory and I go for a ride nearly everyday. The miles had to get on there some how.

Atlantman's suggestion is actually a great one. Savannah would make a great weekend get away, except for the one you are carrying. You could arrange multiple rides in multiple type cars in Savannah.

I never expected this kind of response! I think Greenville would probably work best, given that it is closer. I might be able to surprise him by taking him out to dinner there and then try and meet up for a ride. As far as Savannah - I saw that and it looks great, however we have one child in Marching Band and she can't miss Friday nite games which means we'd have to leave on a Sat. a.m and that'd be about 5 or so hrs driving for us w/ 3 kids in a car - uggh - I'm traveling in GA tonite but will look at my schedule and come up with some possible weekends and see what you all have available. Thanks again!

Don't get near my car. Don't even look at it. In fact, stay in Asheville 3+ hours away.

:) Just kidding. If you want to have some fun in a 348 (a real man's Ferrari), give me a shout. Those 360's with an F1 transmission are like driving a Chevy.

If you're coming to Greenville you could just come to the EuroFest show in October where probably most of these people and a lot of GA people will be coming to anyways. Plus it's only 10 minutes up from here too. Just a suggestions :)

good idea Andy...... like steve said there will be plenty of Ferrari's and other european cars there. The key would be to arrange a drive either before or after the event. Any volunteers??? greenville locals (ahem redlineg60 Andy thomason) hahaha

It would be okay to ride in Daniel's 348. Luca, his new born, will have already thrown up several times in it. Therefore your husband shouldn't feel too bad about a ride and if he throws up from riding in an older, but definately pampered 348, it won't be that big a deal.

The very well broken in (17,000+ miles and counting) Silver 360 Spider with F1 transmission would be a fabulous ride. Maybe we just string several together going from older to newer and he can change rides ever 10 miles or so.

    Hey,

I'll give him a ride! I can do a Silver 360 Spider, which now apparently has 17000 miles or so on it...

Heck, I'll even come to Asheville to do it!

    hehehe

(ofcourse I would sorta have to 'borrow' it from dad without him knowing... and it would have to be on a weekend (go to school in VA...))

I just saw the post about the Carolina Rally at the Grove Park Inn. Although this is 2 months before his birthday maybe this would be an opportunity to meet some of you and give my hubby a chance to ride along in a Ferrari? We only live about 2 miles from GPI! Looks like a pretty incredible event.
