I sold a car to someone out-of-state - and am attempting to get my signature on the back of the NC title notarized so I can send it to the new owner. I've done this before with other cars wit no problem.

However, I've had 3 different notaries tell me that they can't notarize my signature without also notarizing the buyers signature at the same time! In section "A" on the back of the title, there are 3 things highlighted in red, "Name of Buyer", "Seller Signature" and "Buyer Signature". They are telling me all of this must be filled in before they can notarize.

I think that's incorrect since all they should be notarizing is MY signature (which is why the notary information is positioned below the "Seller Signature" area.

Of course the buyer isn't going to drive here from another state to have his signature notarized - but the title it no good to him without my signature notarized.

Anyone here have any experience with this?

I am in the process of buying a NC titled car. I would appreciate any info regarding the notary requirements.
