base pricing and options........thx
Base price is reputed to be $106K. The options list is out, no prices yet. Many options are similar to C2/C4 options, so you can probably assume those prices are in effect.
From what I gather, a fully loaded one with go for 135k, showing the priciness of Porsche's options. But base will be 106k.
This is a subject of heated debate on the P-boards. The issue is that they're expensive to replace and the range of use may be more restrictive than first thought. Apparently, they're more proven for LeMans type racing where you get longer runs between braking applications so there is more time to cool off. When used on short tracks they can overheat and deteriorate the CC disk, requiring expensive replacement, particularly if you use the wrong pads or if the pads aren't replaced frequently. Some folks are ordering PCCB, then replacing with steel disks, while keeping the PCCB in a box. The argument is that the PCCB does add value and the option cost ($6-8K) is 1/3 - 1/2 the replacement cost ($16-20K).
I didn't know that they had changed the PCCB for the Mk2 GT3, I did hear they tweaked the PCCB for the 996 TT-S which came later (2005). From the debates still going on in the P-boards, it's not clear there was a significant change; but perhaps that's legacy disgruntlement. Edit: Just checked on rennlist and the debate is still going on, though there may be some better words for the GenII PCCB's which were introduced with the 996 TT-S and are current for the 997 series. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=281349
Thanks for the info. I thought it was sorted by now . Funny that no magazine mentions this but only hail those brakes are the must have for track dayers.
