i was sitting in line at a Starbuck's drive thru this morning & was not following the exact path laid out. Some guy in a Lexus pulled up and decided that since i was not following the exact path you are supposed to that he would pull ahead of me.

After i moved up in line, the guy got out of his car and came over to mine to yell at me. I told him get back in his car. He continued with his issues and would not go away and started to piss me off.

Finally I yelled a few obscenities back at him & then he tried to get into my car. Fortunately it was locked. After a few more minutes of this he finally got back in his car and continued to yell. There was enough commotion that a Starbucks employee came out and the guy continued to yell at their employee.

Apparently he wasn't quite stupid enough to land himself in jail. This guy should donate his pea brain to science.

    That's why I carry a 4 D-cell maglight. Technically, it's -not- a club.

The guy -really- needed his grande doubleshot white soy peppermint mocha with two raw sugars and extra whip cream...

I'd hate to see what would happen when Starbucks screws up his order.

I've had idiots like this ruin my life on a few occasions. The first was when I was younger - he reached in & choked me (I was driving a targa top), both hands around my neck. I didn't drive an open roof car for about 15 years after that.

Years later, the second one I pulled a gun on. He got back in his car and left.

I live in the country and make my own cofffee that kicks hell outa Starbucks.

Seriously, I have become a person that will not get into it with anybody on the road or in situations like that. I will even drive away if necessary, if I think that by ignoring them, they are getting more worked up. I am even more worried if the new health care plan disrupts the pharmaceutical industries control over all the socially deranged people out there. God help us if there is a prozac shortage.......nut cases are coming out of the woodwork these days, like some segment of the population is being sprayed with paranoid schizophrenic juice or something.

As they say around here: "Simma down now"

blow them a kiss, that usually catches them off guard and often makes them laugh.

I dream about someone confronting me like that, especially if they are carrying a deadly weapon (gun, knife, bat, etc).

Wow. He's lucky it wasn't a morning you were on your way to the range or you could have invoked your rights under the Castle Doctrine. What an idiot to try and get in your car! You should have called the Plano police - their response time is generally less than 3 minutes.

I noticed you're in the Plano area. I lived there several years and can tell you that it is a busy area with people that have no patience for anyone. Just drive the toll-way north anytime near rush hour and see the most retarded, aggressive drivers you've ever seen. I had few run-ins when I lived there. It's really is different out there.

If you're goofing in line at Starbucks, be ready for some fast words. Staying in your car is very important. If the cops show up, trying to explain why he got out of his car to harass you is a slippery slope. Glad to hear you're ok.

Agree with previous poster; Plano police are FAST, and have ZERO tolerance for road rage-- Z E R O! Seriously.

Don't let meathead ruin your Monday. Have a good one...

Perhaps Plano is seeing an influx of Arizona natives?

You did the right thing. Evidently saying "Sorry, I was here first" didn't clear up any miscommunication.

Sounds like he has a bi-polar disorder and thinks that everyone is out to get him. It's all about him thinking he's right and everyone else is wrong. He's impossible to reason with, no matter what you do. You could have paid for his coffee and he would have still been mad at you.

Don't worry about it. He's having a terrible day, not you. :)

Would it have been illegal to shoot him if you were in fear of your life? Sounds to me like you need to head on down to the gun store.

Or you could invest a couple of years in training in some effective martial arts. It makes you much more mellow, because you come to enjoy people toying with their health by trying to get into confrontations with you, and it makes you much more confident of being able to handle yourself. In this situation, you would probably have been happy to sit back and let him cut in front of you. Another *********, another day, that's what you think as you chill out to your favorite music.

Be prepared for jammed thumbs and hurt wrists and sore necks and other injuries for a long time, but it will ultimately be well worth it. I recommend ninjitsu, kajukenbo, or krav maga.

yes it would have been illegal unless he threatened you with a deadly weapon (gun, knife, club) and you couldn't avoid him. now if he's yelling at you to get out of the car and/or trying to take the keys you can assume he's trying to steal your car and under the castle doctrine as Frances mentioned you could protect your property with deadly force.

all that said it usually isn't worth it because you still would go in front of grand jury and still have a civil lawsuit against you. Texas has recently tried to pass laws to protect people in these situations from civil lawsuits.

I have a little old west in me, if every caught robber or assaulter was shot dead then there would be a constantly decreasing number of bad people like this.

Rob is familiar with the gun store.

Surely a grand jury would let you off once you claimed the castle doctrine, or proved that a person trying to gain entrance to your car was in fact posing a potentially deadly threat?

Actually, it does not do much to deter crime beyond a certain point. They cut off hands for theft in Saudi Arabia. Theft still occurs there, much more than you would think. They execute people for drug smuggling in many countries. Smugglers still carry on, in those countries.

What it would do is remove that one azzho1e from the earth, eliminate the primary threat to you and your family and property at that moment, and provide you with a great deal of satisfaction at having resolved the situation to your satisfaction. You could always shoot to wound (severely).

I don't know if you guys recall, there was an incident where a delivery truck driver (a Somoan if I recall), was apparently cuf-off by another vehicle going down 35 exiting Mockingbird. Traffic stops at Mockingbird exit. Delivery driver gets out and starts punching other driver in the face several times through his open window--no where for him to go due to traffic. Driver pulls out gun shoots delivery truck driver dead. Grandjury doesn't want to file charges, but DA pushes it. Goes to trial and man is aquitted.

No one won. One man dead, another broke.

I don’t care about deadly force laws much at all, one reason I don’t know them 100%. I will use deadly force if my life or families is at significant risk regardless of the law for that situation. Flip side I may have full legal right to use deadly force, but won’t if life isn’t at significant risk.

yes, I still highly recommend a CHL class so you don't get a firearms charge just for carrying. it is actually a simple and fun course, about 2-4 month delay to get license after you take course though. also keep that in mind for renewals.

They try to get in car, it is assault.
Cell phone photos and call cops.
I photo anyone who acts like they're going to be issue. Car, plate, and them. If they're really AH's, I make sure they see me getting them on film.
Morons who cut you off/merge into you then flip you off, lane squeezers, all of them. Getting close to putting FO video in the cars for this stuff, especially for the child transporters. Nice little microswitch and a USB, and you're golden.
Dark tint and always leave escape room in lines of drive-thrus. Especially with family in car. Cops can be fast, but not that fast.
