Was doing a road trip Denver - Vegas... On my way back to Colorado and battery light came on. Long story short, had it towed to a highway patrol office in Utah, and need to get a replacemt alternator to drive back out and do the repair to get it home.

Anyone in Colorado / Utah have one or know where I can get one this weekend?

    Much obliged.

Scroll down to the alternator section:

    My Ferrari 348

You may only need some off-the-shelf rebuild parts instead.

True, but I still have to find a shop in the small town I left it to even get it fixed. Repair time, unknown... If it's even rebuildable... (Burnt wires?)

Can replace it in 30 minutes. Safest bet is the best bet on this one I think.

How long is the drive from home to the car?

I'd probably get a U-Haul trailer and just retrieve it myself. If the bad alt killed the battery, bring a new one to start and drive onto the trailer only.

If you go this route don't forget some lengths of 2x6 boards to help with clearance.

360 miles. Any concerns with my battery at this point due to the failed alternator?

Just had a major done, so really not worried about the drive back to get it, and the concluding drive back home.

Its a car... Parts wear out :p

Well, maybe have a new battery standing by, and the tools to replace it, just in case. It would be no fun if the car doesn't crank and you have push it onto the trailer.

It's an [old] car... one adventure after another. :)

As it stands, the car was able to crank over when we left it. Just drains the load from 11.2V down and down as it runs towards 9V CEL's come on and eventually stalls out.

Anyone in colorado have an alternator?

An off the shelf alternator from an 88-89 Eagle medallion or premier will work with a pulley swap if a parts store has one.

Your best bet is to get that one down on the bench at a local rebuilder, and have them put it right.

They work like any other alternator but the Ferrari specific ones are never easy, nor cheap, to find!!

I put mine on the counter and wink and say "7800RPM redline, buddy!"

I say get it rebuilt with a Regitar RN-10 rectifier and a Denso 126000-0400 regulator. Have new brushes put in, and check the slip rings. If you must buy new then try these guys. RaceProven.com: Alternators: Racing

I'm not sure what the deal is with the one you got but I run one and the connector is correct. Also they were the same through 92 actually. The engine it was on is: 3.0L 2972CC 182Cu. In. V6 GAS SOHC Naturally Aspirated

Also this is a Delco alternator not a Denso.

I'll be asking Dave which one it is tomorrow. I'm not sure if mine (93 series Speciale) is a Delco or a Nippon Denso

I didn't buy the one I pictured... But it is local if I need it.
