Check engine lights here we come. Motronic can only adjust fuel trim by 8% before it sets a check engine light for fuel trim out of parameters and E20 will require about 8% more fuel due to lower density.

Hey Dave, get me some of that fuel line to test. I am very familiar with what the old stuff was doing under the influence of California gas substitute.

All true (I was guessing higher but our numbers are close) and one of the reasons I was working on getting the Motronic is top working order with the Gold Connector Kits. That is required as a preliminary step towards widening the operating windows to deal with this and still retain a perfectly clean running engine that wont eat Emissions Components.... a work in progress but major headway has been made. Containing the fuel was only the first of several steps.

The engineless 328 is your new fuel hose test bed.

Well, I'm at the shop and guess what??????????????? My engine is gone....guess my neighbor figured he'd take it as payment for his 4' stepladder that I never returned.
Now I know what an engine is worth..lol

I hate when that happens!!! I think I still have a spare Ferguson tractor engine in the barn I can make you a deal on.... I will throw in a hinged exhaust stack cap I modified with the hose so it didnt "clank" at idle. Thought that was only a problem on the Ferrari's?

    Your covered... no worries.

    Daniel,
That one goes in the valley under the intake for the coolant return. The other one they need to make out of ss comes out of the back of the 1-4 cylinder head on the 308/328 for the heater hose. Part # 106227. Just replaced one myself this week. Mine had a hole eaten through it. And as a suggestion, have them put a hex on it next to the threads so it would be easier to install.

What a great thread on hoses! Thank you, Dave, for your incredible effort. You are truly a savior to the Ferrari clan.

I have a problem on my 246GTS, similar to that of Gerry328 - - the Al crossover tube doesn't align well with the fuel tank attach points, thus putting constant stress on one or both hose attachments. My solution was to shorten the Al tube and buy longer hoses, thinking that the wire-reinforced 35MM hose ( BELLOWSFLEX SAE J1527 USCG TYPE A-2 SAE J1942) would be suitable. Well, as you know, that's a very "stout" hose, too difficult to work with in that location. And, of course, no one sells custom cut 35MM fuel hoses that are actually flexible, until now (maybe?) Can you help me with a couple custom cuts of your hose?

Again, many thanks for this much-needed critical parts improvement to the Ferrari world,

    Bill

Up to 4 feet in length for the large diameter fuel and oil drain backs and 12 feet for the coolant. This poses no problem as I cut them to length in house as required.

    Dave,

What is the update on when you will make these available? I checked my cross over hoses, ane so far they feel OK, but who know what the inside looks like. The fuel around here is still only E 10. However, I am still interested in a complete kit from you.

I have them available in Ferrariads as I was instructed to do.

I have been fighting with the details of making "kits" and came to the conclusion that I had to follow the Ferrari parts book Tav's to keep this making any sense. As some folks have expressed interest in only the crossover/fill necks yet some want complete kits....still trying to find the easiest method to follow through with this. One type of hose requires a certain type of clamp and another a different type again. I have now separated the fuel system kits from the Evap system kits even though they both handle fuel in one way or another.

Experiments are on going testing if we can get away with the old type of hose in a vent type situation to save money over using the hose we designed for constant fuel contact. It appears that this is the case and we can save some money over using the expensive hose for that application...at least for a while.

I am driving the engineers nuts as I have changed the fuel hose yet again. I saw an area that I thought could be improved upon regarding fit and finish with no change to the function portion of the design, so when I got to reorder points I did so. Each time I change this it requires new part numbers, new design drawings, new QC check procedures and new batch numbering for QC checks... It really is a major ordeal with each change but in the end I want it perfect in every respect. I also designed a new guard for the injected cars fuel lines that is in prototype production now and we should have that in testing by next week....that one is a no brainier, if it fits, its good to go and will allow us to shorten the length of hose needed thus reducing prices for each car. Every inch saved is worth the trouble.

I am at a cross roads with this as doing anything in small production levels is very expensive. I can reduce the per car price significantly if I manufacture/buy in large qty's
but then I have to stock the shelves and floor plan/bank role big money myself and hope this catches on and grows legs. I am now in discussions with manufactures of parts for other marques in an attempt to raise the volumes to a point where we can reduce costs for our hobby... a work in progress. The engineers say I can cut this and that corner to reduce the per foot cost's... not interested, I didn't set out to make cheap hose, there are other options for that. I am still at a point where I am raising the spec's.

Three major oil companies in the USA have now bought 10 Alcohol refineries across the country and that's just the start.... that's a powerful lobby to now promote using Hog food for Ferrari fuel. Buckle up, were in a ride with this one. Where you used to see the Oil Companies pushing to keep the blends low level, there is now an incentive to promote higher blend levels. Follow the money... They have the Feds promoting the concept, think the levels will go down?

    Hey Dave H!

I was 'almost-there' with the Fuel Evaporator kit this weekend....I received your extension that goes around the firewall and connects to the Driver's Side tank....small problem, though. I found the OEM evaporator hose has been 'buckled-in' to the crossover fuel lines with a VERY stout pair of OEM tiewraps. These fasteners look to be wide, and have two 'buckles' that keep me from loosening the straps, and I can't pull the hose through it. Any ideas other than cutting these straps? Where can I find replacements?

Try a little silicone grease on the outside of the hose and slide it out and back in with that aiding the effort....OR, cut the buggers and put a late style plastic wire tie. Wont look original but.....

My crossover hoses on the fuel tanks were both ~90mm long and fit just fine....funny how things on one car can work fine and the same damned car from the same factory don't work at all.
