Hi. I hope no one minds my doing a little "networking" on the board. Just got laid off today from my job at Eli Lilly's RTP Labs in RTP, NC. They're closing up their drug discovery/screening shop, moving operations back up to the mother ship in Indianapolis. Anyway, to cut to the chase, I'm a senior automation tech looking for a position as a biomedical technician, either as an in-house tech for one of the many hospitals in the Raleigh/Durham area or a field service rep to support MRI equipment, CT scanners, XRay equipment and the like. Knowing there are some doctors that frequent FChat I thought I'd ask if any would have contacts in the industry, with Siemens, GE Medical or other major players. I'd be happy to forward my resume' to any interested parties. Thanks in advance and again, sorry if this request is not appropriate for this forum. I hope you understand my situation.
Ever hear of a little company called Embrex? They're in RTP, and one of their VP's is a former employee my firm. EMBX continues to be a great customer of mine and is one the bleeding edge of innovation in poultry immunization. Check them out. I'd be happy to introduce you, if you think there might be a fit. (I'm out of pocket until Monday however...) -Daniel
Thanks Daniel for the offer. I'm sure I've heard of them or at least have driven by their facility. I'll definitely check them out and will be in touch if it looks like something I'd be interested in.
After a few years of a down trend, we are starting to see bio-tech grow again in the Houston area. I can ask around if you want. Dale
Really wanting to stay in NC Dale but thanks. The pharmaceutical industry is on shaky ground and in a way I'm relieved to be getting away from it. I'd like to get more into the medical imaging/diagnostics field if possible. State-of-the-art equipment and it seems like very interesting work.
Update: my "target" company (Siemens) called me on Friday and seem very interested in hiring me for their ultrasound division, as a field service rep. This is exactly the job I'm after. The phone interview went well and I should get the face-to-face interview this week. *fingers crossed*
Thanks 308chas. Had the 2nd phone interview today and it went well also. Next step is the face-to-face interview, probably next week. I feel confident about it but I've got my fingers/toes crossed.
Accepted an offer from Siemens today for a field service position in their ultrasound division. Exactly the job I was after and I'm very relieved. Thanks again David for your help! This is a terrific community.
