About a month ago, my 6 month old son was diagnosed with cancer. He is doing OK so far, but as you can probably imagine, it's a long road in front of us. We are trying to free up a little cash for all the incidentals that our insurance doesn't cover. So, before I take the time to put these out on ebay, I figure I'd see if anyone here would be interested in some car stuff. The money would go to a benefit fund set up by the hospital. I'll be in Denver often so maybe I wouldn't even have to ship. Anyway, please take a look and PM me if there is something you'd be interested in:

Matt, that is a worthy cause if ever there was one. Best wishes to you and your son. I hope it all works out for you (and the collectors come knockin'). I assume the hospital would take cash donations too. Why don't you post the contact person's name and your son's first name and last initial or hosp ID number, so people know who to make a donation to? I will be glad to make a donation. Jim

A little info on the Kart:

2001 Trackmagic Diablo II racing Kart, 125cc Honda CR motor, Brembo brakes, overall very good condition.

I raced it in senior/heavy class, but I'm pretty sure you can run it in stock class also, only significant mod on the engine is the removal of exhaust port and related HPP mechanism. It has a muffler and airbox and should be track legal anywhere in CO. Last raced in 2004, I rebuild the engine summer 2005, and have few practice hours on it since. Maybe 3-4 hours. Carb is set up for Grand Junction, so should be fine for front range.

The only thing it needs are new tires, these are a little cooked. I figured I would buy a new set ($130) when I started racing again.

Trackmagic are made in USA, are of very good quality, fully adjustable chassis including wheelbase, and are easy to find parts for (careful of the italian karts! don't we all know about that!). Send me a PM if ?s. Thanks!

I've offered to sell my evo magazine collection off to help. I have every issue from November 2003 (Issue no. 61) to March 2005 (issue 77), and then issue 82 (march 2005)

All are in great condition, I am more of a "looker" than a reader (these magazines have great photos!) After totaling the all the costs of the magazines, it came up to a little over $180.

PM me if interested, the cost wont be $180, quite lower actually, but we can discuss prices and things like that via PM or E-mail.

    Matt,

I know first-hand that insurance doesn't cover all the costs of hospital stays. I will mail my modest donation to the bank today. Best of luck.

I cannot begin to tell you how amazed and humbled I am at all of your generosity and support. Honestly, it felt so awkward for me to put that first post out there, and I didn't expect this kind of response! I hope that I will get to meet all of you sometime and thank you personally.

We'll be in Denver this weekend for treatment, so my responses to PMs may be a little slower. -m

Having recently had a daughter (2 months old today) that has some minor issues, I can somewhat relate... although, not to this extent... I have no need for more magazines and such... however, I would like to help a fellow f-chatter in need... has some one set up a paypal account for donations? If no one has, I would like to volunteer my paypal account for it and have a check cut for the fund... If someone has, please let me know so that I can contribute... Matt, my families thoughts and prayers are with you...

email: [email protected] (paypal is the same) - or PM me.

Matt, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Best wishes to your son for a strong and painless recovery.

Alex_V - you're a good man for doing this. I'd like to help the cause so consider the magazines sold. Let's catch up tomorrow, per our discussion.

    Best.
