    Hi,
just a suggestion, but did you consider the 01's ? they have the upgraded navigation screen, steering wheel, front and rear lights, and instrument cluster.

one thing you really have to get checked out is the clutch, I believe that's a big weakpoint in the car. Another thing these cars are susceptible to is carbon build up in the engine. From what I've read this is an invasive job that cost a few thousand. I'm not sure how they would check this with a PPI, but make sure it gets checked out. This causes the car to go into a "limp mode" in which the car feels as though it's running on 4 cylinders and comes close to stalling. One more thing that comes to mind is the problem with the Mass air flow sensors, this too causes the car to go into a limp mode that seems to right itself by turning the car off then back on.

what colour combo is the potential choice ? also, check out www.m5board.com for more info, it's a great site with a lot of good, helpful individuals.

    good luck with everything!

Contact Gearhart BMW in Denville. They can access the "official" BMW records and give a service history if it was serviced or if there were recalls or warranty claims on it. Also, do a Carfax, just to be sure it wasn't in a wreck or salvaged.
