As some of you may know Im the sales manager of Bridgewater Acura and while im allowed to drive any NEW Acura, they are just not exciting to me. I use to snag something new once a week but its a hassle. Luckily, we specialize in sports compact cars so there is always something fun to drive. Ive had my 2005 Audi S4, yellow, 6 speed for 7 months and unfortunatly...its time to go. What next is the only question? M3, S2000 with hardtop, another EVO or STI, another S4, 01 M5, 540i, CLK55 or E55...I dont know and need something quick! Car needs to be under $40k....anyone know of anything?
Okay well as per your choices, here is what I think: BMW M3 Great car and can not go wrong. You should be able to get one a year old with a few miles or even a leftover. HONDA S2000 Just bought one. Great car and amazing to drive. Acutally pretty quick and I would say it gives the NSX's a run for their money at 25% of the cost!! Also very exclusive. Hardly ever see them. EVO/STI Great since they are all wheel drive but I see them everywhere and with that car, all the teens will want to race you 24/7. Friend had one and it seemed like someone wanted to race at every light. AUDI S4 Do you really want another one? 2001 BMW M5/540i Great car. Has the room but if something goes wrong, they are German and they can be an expensive fix. Again, it hardly ever happens but if it does, it can make or break you. MERCEDES CLK55 This car is so boring. Just plain and nothing for it's price tag. LAST CHOICE! MERCEDES E55 Bigger car but do you need it? If so, look into it but I would say a BMW is a lot better since the Mercedes is just a label. BMW is a better driver and much more sporty. Mercedes is smooth but Mercedes just attracts "those" people. Good luck with your choice!
CTS-V is an option but I really hate american cars and the re-sale value is awful. I buy at wholesale and the book on those things drop! month after month after month! The S2000 is nice, i've had them before but they really don't compare to NSX in terms of speed. 0-60 is terrible and it always seems like the car is working so hard and not really going anywhere. Handling is terrific, on par with the NSX but i'd really like on with a hardtop and they are impossible to find. I had an 01 E55 last year for awhile and an 02 M3 for the other half of the year. The E55 was pretty quick but looked dated and at the end of the day, felt like a big, heavy super-sedan. I think Ive narrowed it down to the STI/EVO, S2000 or M3.
You ever climb in and out of one ?? The novelty wears off fast. Get something you havent had already is what I say.
I'm on my second M3 (2004 6 speed) and absolutely love them. On the list for the 2008 M3 and can't wait. Go with the M3 IMO
Looked at these and they are IMPOSSIBLE to get out of. That bar in the door prevents this car from being a daily driver and they are REALLY REALLY small.
keep the S! its one of the best cars ive ever owned...especially in the winter when it snows try out that m3 in the heavy northeast snow and let me know where you get.
i agree. s2000 would be great for summer months and im sure mods wouldnt be all that expensive. from what ive seen comptech has some pretty good mods; my brother had an s2000 with comptech mods. hardtop? well i dont know so much about that, i have seen maybe one or two s2k's with the hardtops in the past few years theyve been around. m3 is another stellar choice. but i'd make sure to stay away from any 7/01-4/02 build dates. on the roadfly forums it seems like a majority of the engine failures were in between those dates. otherwise a quick car (0-60 4.8?) with IMO a great interior. if you can...an '06 zcp (compeition package) interlagos/cinnamon interior, 19's, better brakes etc etc would be my pick. sti/evo are really ricer cars. great to go fast.....but thats about it. interiors are lackluster to say the least. don't you think the oversized spoilers are a bit "gimicky"? one option of these two: the sti limited edition i believe. its a dark silver (i believe) has a bit more hp and has a lip spoiler. can anyone confirm if the US received these or were they only for japan? and the cts-v. well..great engine/sound.....not the interior i would like. i do not like corvettes and i do not like caddy's. so why would i like a caddy with a vette engine? no offense boys. definately an interesting car but not my cup of tea. same concept as a g35 coupe to me. great engine/sound......terrible interior. i dont know call me crazy m3 all the way.
993 is a great choice and you probably wont lose money on it if you sell it in a few years. The M3 is also just a great car. I would pick from one of those. You get prestige, power and awesome performance from either one. The other cars on the list cant offer all of those thing in one package.
I cant go 993 because its too old. We cant finance anything older than 1999, so it makes for a tough sale. A had a 996 convertable for about 4 months and wasnt blown away. I like it, dont get me wrong but I didnt LOVE IT. The Lotus is an idea I never thought of...My NSX is only a two seater so im still on the fence between that. The S2000 loses points for that as well. The M3 is my overall pic, and im currently searching for one night and day.
Mike.. Onyx as far as I know can still do any year car. They have re-tooled a little bit in the last 3 weeks due to the Capital One buy out. Im sure youre signed with them. Call Charles Maybin over there and tell him you're friends with John C at Planet. He wont jerk you around. Your F&I guy will have the number. Something like 866 860 6699. Verify with F&I. That might open your options up more. If you want to go outside the dealership for financing, PM me. There are a few banks out there that specialize in exotics and classics, any year. Fair interest rates, too.
You're at Planet? Tell John Wilson, Charlie from Condor Capital says hi. Onyx won't do ANY year car, but they are the only major player for anything in the 90's.
I say a Porsche 993 cabriolet for the summer months - its already lost all the value its gonna lose for any miles you put on it in the upcoming months, so you can almost definitely sell it for what you bought it for. If you need a four seater, get an Audi S4 convertible. Best of luck!
First things first, doing 70 pre-owned a months....you think I dont know charlie. Onyx rocks, I love them. Cant beat latest PNC rates as of recent. Also, some of you may be confused...This is my demo, i.e, a free car. I use a company check and put it into my inventory for sale. When/if we sell it, I get something new.
Audi S4 is gone... Hello Mr.Z06, very fast and extremly ****ty build quality. The faster you go, the more you think this thing is just going to fall apart. I love it. 2002 Lemans Blue, 6 speed, 100% stock
I didnt think so either, its pretty fast (my nsx would destroy it), very comfortable and it just fell into my lap. Someone traded it on a TSX. Very cheap too.
Michael, Doesn't sound like a very difficult life decision. How long do you plan on keeping it? Six months, four? I don't know if you have ever spent a few months in a Vette, but now might be a good time if you haven't. The new SLK might be another option. I get the sense that you want to try different vehicles to advance your knowledge. If so.... think like a painters palette. Let us know what you decide - Good luck
If you do not mind me asking, what did you get it for? As an employee, do you get it for trade in value?
