I am not sure this is in the right place. Please move it if it is not.

I have had a Viking dishwasher for about 5 years now and I hate it. It does not really wash dishes and it definitely does not dry them. Anyone have a good dishwasher they like? My Viking has a wood panel in front of it so that it blends in with the island...so it needs to be that style (i.e. all the buttons are on the top of the door and not visible when shut. Recommendations?

Best one I've used is a Bosch/Siemens one at my parents' house. Stainless inside and really quiet. I'm sure you can get one with a panel kit to put your existing panel on the front.

Miele. It is expensive. I have had Bosch and GE, they do not compare

I had to buy a new one sometime ago.

My choice was a Bosch Supersilence Exclusiv.

Supersilence (40-44 dB) is much less noisy than an standard dish washer! This is very important to me, because my living room and my kitchen aren`t separated.

I don`t use the energy saving low temperature modes. 65°C to 70°C (vario speed) is fine. All bacteria will definitely be killed at these levels. I always remove any mustard from the dishes before washing. In my experience mustard, especially dryed mustard, is a killer for any machine. Anything else, even dryed, is fine.

There are machines, that have a special mode to dry plastic dishes. Mine hasn`t got this feature. If this is important to you, you may have to ask about this feature, when buying your machine.

The choice of the washing-up liquid (hope that`s correct (google translation)) is important as well, especially in order to get glossy dishes. I use Calgonite/Finish Max in 1 tabs.

And always leave the door a little bit open after washing, to allow drying the machine's interior.

Following this your dishes will be absolutely perfect!

I don`t have experience with Miele dish washers, but with Miele washing machines. They are still built here in Germany. That`s why they are pretty expensive. Miele products are generally supposed to be of highest quality!

    I will look into Bosch.

Are there German Mieles still? I have a Miele washer and dryer and they are made in Mexico. They do work well though.

I just looked again and I guess they are not made in Mexico...when I read the labels I saw Mexico and completely misread it. I am not sure where they should say made in Germany though.

Anyways thanks for making me feel better about my washer and dryer...I will have to look into Miele now.

I am married and I have a house keeper but she is sick with cancer so me and my wife have been doing all the chores apart from actually cleaning the house. That is what made me realize how inadequate our equipment was.
