Somehow this piece got cracked. I have looked through all the diagrams I could find but could not come up with a part number so that I can begin to make inquiries to buy another. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

From memory that part is magnesium. It would be better to have it welded if you have the facility nearby.

Be aware that it can indicate a problem with the rest of the roof, which led to uneven pressure on the frame and the crack. Typically its failing roof elastic but it can be uneven pressure from the hydraulics.

Thanks for the info. Certainly I would rather not spend $900 if i can fix this one up. Now I just have to figure out how it comes off!

@Fort Worth 360 I had the same problem with my 360 Spider. From what I can tell, it happens when the elastics get weak and the top flops back into the capote tub with too much force. Odds are the other side is cracked as well. When the break all the way, the top won't close or open properly.

I suggest not even trying to take it off. A lot of intricate parts are in the way. Instead, fix it in place.

What I did to fix this issue was fiberglass both sides of the crack with a strong metal based epoxy (System Three Metalweld) along with some loose fiberglass. The part has pretty good access when the top is stopped right after the front locking forks deploy when putting up the top. Stop the process and turn off the key. From there, it's stand up access and easy to work on. I taped plastic all around the inside of the car first as a wise precaution.

I first removed all the paint and sanded down to clean metal over the entire area that would be covered, then clamped it in place. The epoxy and glass was mixed on a piece of cardboard thoroughly and then put in place as a glob using an acid brush. I did the epoxy-glass overlay over the entire back and the visible part of the outer surface . The key to getting a really good surface texture is to use the acid brush to tamp (with the brush end) the epoxy-glass mixture flat. This works out all the air bubbles and extra epoxy, leaving a solid thin coat. I did this on both sides of the piece. The epoxy repair is stronger and more resistant to breakage then the thin magnesium.

Once dried, I rough sanded, then tried my best to put some sort of matching texture on the part. It's a tough part to see so just getting it close is good enough.

Others have had the part welded in place and maybe some others have been brave enough to take apart their capote and do it on the bench.

If your elastic bands haven't been changed in the last ten years, they are WAY overdue. It's a good DIY job that's all standing up. I wrote an article on the process.
