    I know this an unusual request. But I need someone who knows a little (not much) about big trucks to go to this dealer and look at a truck for me. I am located in Kansas City, Missouri and before I make an offer OR a trip out there to buy it, I thought maybe I could talk someone in the area into viewing this truck, maybe give it a short test drive and just an good overall look at it. I don't want a mechanic's opinion or detailed analysis just overall appearance and condition.
    The truck is a 1986 MAN M1001 8X8 military truck. Once used to haul Pershing II missiles around. I want the truck just as a hobby to work on in my spare time and cruise the main street on the small town I live in. I have a 360 and a CLS so this would be a natural next vehicle selection.
    The truck is in Davis, CA and the address is 1800 Olive Drive, Davis, CA 95616. Phone is (530)758-9999. and the office hours are 8AM to 5PM.

    I love this sentence. Can't say I'd even know HOW to drive one of those things, but I'm sure someone around here can help! Hell, I didn't even know you could BUY such a thing!

    It's a neat truck, a ways out there in Davis but of course I had never seen anything like it up close and person so that was a draw for me too. Putting on a set of coveralls and crawling all over it was just a cherry on top !

    German made, ex Army, both sets of front and rear wheels steer so it acts like a truck with a small wheel base, even though it's BIG, kind slow and could easily tow Mt Everest. 8 speeds, buckets of torque...Everything is heavy duty, grade 8 bolts, super overbuilt. It rides well by design, interior noise is tolerable.

    Drive up in this; and people have to look.

    On the Highway more than a few people craned their neck up to try and get a look at the hooligans at the wheel...in vain unless they were in a F250 pick up or better.

    Can you say ground clearance? It will be hard not to feel superior when driving this thing around.

    Conclusion: Monster truck meets daily driver.

    But WAAAY COOLER !
