A friend of mine is moving to NYC and needs a realtor. He works on Wall Street and wants to stay close to the office. He is currently looking at 2M-$3M for a condo/apartment. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good realtor?

    Thanks
    Ken

my wife is with a Sotheby's affiliate in the 'burbs. I can get you a referral if you need one, although this is the low end of the apt market,

I realize that $2M-$3M will barely get you 1,000 square feet in NYC, but any referral has to be better than getting a name from the phone book.

$2M-$3M is fine for an apartment in the city.
go to elliman.com, corcoran.com, sothebysrealty.com and pick one.

Ken: i was just busting balls. I've asked my wife for the name of someone who will provide the right level of attention. I agree that for 2-3 million you should be able to get something decent (no Parkside with terrace thingies though; hell, i know somebody that bought a studio years ago in the Dakota, for what was then an astronomical price, and by today's standards, is a joke; he'll never get rid of it). What drove me from the city was the fact that i could get a veritable mansion for the same price, or less, in Westchester, than a quality brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, where i had lived for nearly 20 years. (We co-owned a brownstone there, and found our co-owner to be an idiot; at the same time, there was no value in buying her out, so we sold our portion of the building and were on the hunt for a single occupancy building, either a brownstone or carriage house). I also tend to like older construction, rather than new, and single units per floor (or at least limited to one or two, per elevator), but as you know, that get's pricey too. Anyway, i won't let my prejudices get in the way....

I just looked for the hell of it on homes.com and had to go to page 60 to get to the apartments in the $3M mark. The highest there was $70M. What does one do with a $70M apartment?
