I have a gasket leaking oil on my exhaust manifold on my 88 Mondial 3.2. I looked a round a little for gaskets but not having much luck. Is it OK to use the silicon gasket in a tube do you think? Thank you. Buck

I had the same issue. If you can't get any I would get some gasket paper and cut it out, then use silicon sealant as a dresser/seal. The gaskets I bought from superformance were rubbish....

Are you sure it's only the cam cover gasket? Could be the camshaft seals.

The big, big risk with silicone or other sealers in a tube is: when the sealant gets mashed or smashed under torque bits can break off and fall into engine oil ports - and you know what that can do. Get the proper gasket please.

Penny wise can lead to tens of thousands of dollars engine failure/damage.

Nowadays, when buying one of these cars it may be prudent to remove oil pan and look for silicone residue; and remove covers.

Orange or blue goop should not be anywhere near these cars!

They are available at the F dealer and even for a fair price. These are all factory approved. You cannot get them any better then this. Just search on the part number. This is the original warehouse of Ferrari for classics. (MP = Maranello Approved Part)

You should not use silicon. You have these gaskets for a reason. Only at the ends where the main gasket connects to the End gasket and the sealing ring. Don't use to much else your lubrication system gets clogged.

Yeah...the color of the goop is not the issue here...it’s the goop itself making its way into oil passages and potentially causing catastrophic failure of your engine.
Get a new gasket or just keep topping off your oil. Silicon is not the solution.
