Need a Water Pump

What are your symptoms? Seals, bearings and impellers are available to rebuild these.

 

I would try this place with your old pump. I had my 77 done by them and they were great. I put 30K miles on it and it was still leak free when I sold it.

Nick still has these made every yr. It's on the upper end of your budget but I've yet to see one fail.

I get mine from superformance along with belts and bearings
cheap enough to replace with belt service

 

I installed a Flying Dutchman about ten years ago. Inexpensive too.

I've had one of Nick's on my 83QV for 10 years now, with no problems. Excellent pump.

 

They all fail eventually.

That is why I keep a (rebuildable/rebuilt) spare or two on the shelf.

 

Super performance is a good source.

 

Superformance has two options, an OEM for £100, and an uprated for £350. Is the uprated pump worth the extra money, looks pretty similar to the original. The Forza looks like a better design for sure, but it's $800! Not sure my completely stock motor would benefit from that one? Thanks!

 

I did the Superformance expensive one, it is made by Capristo and appears to be a very high quality casting with a proper solid metal impellor. Hard to say if its worth the premium, as it is always the seal and bearing that fails. A previous cheap one with a plastic impellor failed in two years, so not going that route again. The Forza one looks fantastic but requires a different belt length from oem, so you have to accept that.

 

Thankfully the belts are made by Gates, easy to source and very inexpensive. The change in pulley size to slow down the impeller is why the belt is a different length but it's hardly an issue as metric Gates belts are available worldwide. Sizing convention is dead easy too, 7M960 for example.. 7M wide 960mm length.

+1 for Nick's pump. I put one on my '79 308GTS several years ago, and have never had any problems, and have never come close to overheating. Took a good look at it when I changed belts a couple years ago & it looked great.

 

I like the design and would have purchased one but back in the day they weren't available. I think the key is the "water pump bearing" which is a one piece type of design. I don't know but hopefully it was an off the shelf bearing which if you purchase a spare you'll never need another pump.
