Just looking for some advise. I currently have an '86 328 GTS in great condition, that I'm looking to trade in on a 512TR. There are 2 I'm down to. 1. white, with 18.8K miles in very nice condition, and other is red, with 14K and change in excellent condition. Both are 1992s. Both are likely going to be in the same ball park, price wise. The red is in better condition (needs nothing), but in Ohio. The white is in NJ, fairly close to where I live, but needs just a few minor cosmetic things. Besides personal preference, is there a material difference in potential future value? Is white considered a more "rare" color. They do appear to pop up a fair amount. Thoughts?

I think a '94 is the year to own. It has ABS brakes but a 512 is a nice car. I love it in red but I'm sure white is a lot less common. Buy the color you like and enjoy it. Red does suit the style of the car.

I am not sure there is a best color.....it is up to you.

I bought a black one......looks like a car for Darth Vader.

Red is classic Ferrari and white screams Miami Vice. You really can't go wrong.

Jersey cars seem consistently rough for some reason, The value of the color is in the eye of the buyer of course.

I have owned both red and white.
I had chills of sharp excitement when I looked at the red, I had confident feelings of pure classiness looking at the white. If only one, I choose Red.

mine is red, and i love it. it is my favorite of the stable.

the 512tr is THE iconic ferrari. i believe there are very few other cars on the planet that are so universally recognizable and unmistakably a ferrari.

and ferraris are red. yes they come in other colors and some models dont look good in red. but this car looks GREAT in red, so go for the red one imo.

btw, dont worry about the build year, no all of the 94's have abs, and so what - not a big deal. 92's work just fine ;)

Much appreciated to all. You confirmed what my instinct was telling me. The white is definitely nice, but if I really wanted to be honest with myself, I think the red makes my blood pump just a bit faster, and that's what it's all about afterall, right? Thanks again for the comments.

white is a much more discreet color than red.

a red car is always better to watch by the police than a white car.
when I go testdriving with customers ferrari it often happened that the police stopped me, but only when I have driven a red F, never with a F with other color - until now

    All years are great!

Best is one with a diff upgrade.

94 is nice with ABS and better diff but the diff upgrade on an older modell
is technical better than a original diff in a 94 TR.

94 is an important year in USA, in the rest of world it is not that much important
and here in europe only one rule is be used: buy the best car! If ut is a 92 or a 94
    nobody really cares.

My car is a 1992, perfect condition, black/black, 19K miles
with diff upgrade and i would guess it is so much lower in price than a 1994
    but still a strong buy.

So buy the best you can get.

Or spend big bucks for a 1994 if the low production for US is important for you.

Just reading all the comments and I offer the following:

The white car from Jersey- If that's the white on black one from Ferrari Central Jersey, then it was traded in by a good friend of mine. He bought it from the midwest so it's not a Jersey car and definitely not 'rough'. That car is Gorgeous and I begged him not to sell it, but he traded a group of cars.

I do like red, who doesn't? But I love the white more, in person it was just breathtakingly nice than I could've imagined. I often saw these cars in red and never gave TR's a second thought, but it was his white one that got me excited enough about these to want to own one and I subsequently bought mine.

And Yes they say '94 is the year to own, but you pay a lot more and while the value is there, you're getting pretty much the same car, so that part is up to your wallet.

Good Luck whatever you do, you can't lose no matter what you decide...

If price is not a concern ; 512M or 94 TR for sure; otherwise any TR would be the same depending on the conditions; I personally would like to pay a premium for a better or the best condition one .... Moreover I would suggest to keep the 328 which is a piece of art .... I regret not to keep one when the market was more reasonable .... good luck in the search ....
