i need new everyday car...i drive 30k miles a year, 80%highway...i want something that is sporty and fun and still a nice highway cruiser and comfortable....used is ok, max price i want to spend is 40k , but under 30k would be better....i have though perhaps a used m3, with smg, even though i havent driven the smg version, or an infinity g35,or an acura tl, ....i know i am allover the place.. i do need a back seat and a decent trunk....i love manual trannys but with stop and go traffic jams and some city driving, probably a n auto or smg type tranny is better.....if any one has any less expensive ideas, i am all for it....thanks

I say a G35 coupe. I have a 350Z and they both use the same engine (almost) and the same transmission. The 6MT is a blast to drive, there's a lot of low end torque!

2005 Mustang. For your price range, you could get a heck of a nice one. My two cents. Let us know what you decide. Dane

    M-B C230 Kompressor or C320 Sport Sedan.

With the 230 you will also get over 30 mpg on the highway.

For the $$ you want to spend, you can get a very nice (last gen) Audi A8...or an A6 4.2.

Not a bad car to travel in over 30K mi/yr! I don't know about you but after a while, the comfort of a sedan is a good thing! :D

My vote in for the Acura TL (which is just a Euro Accord).
    Second option - G35 (sedan, not G35coupe)
    Third - BMW 330 or used 02-03 M3.

Definately a 2001- 2003 BMW 330. Nice car cost only upper 20's for one with about 20k-30k miles on it. Very quick and responsive will put a smile on your face traveling those miles. Keep the money you'd save if you spent 30 - 40k and bank it for your next F-car.

Buy used and save the depreciation hit.

    BMW 330
Audi A6 (S4 is more fun, but not as comfortable)
    _not_ a newer Mercedes

But for what you describe, a Cadillac DTS, STS, CTS, or even an Eldorado would fit the bill nicely. Plenty of speed, plenty of comfort, reasonable handling, reasonable economy, cheap to buy, insure, and service.

My daily driver (but only 20k/yr) is a Northstar Allante (1993) for all the same reasons. My wife's (also driving 30k/yr) is an E30 BMW 325ic 5sp (1990-her choice...she didn't like the newer ones...).

$1500 in repair costs on the Allante in the last 30k, $0 on the BMW in the last 50k. Service has only been oil changes and tires for both, but now the Allante is due brakes and the BMW a full tune and timing belt...

Avoiding the depreciation of not driving new cars is how I afforded my Ferrari...

What about a Sion XB? those little boxy cars get great gas mileage and you can customize it the way you like. Price isnt so bad either at 14k starting and depending on what you want done to it.

before I even read your post I thought of a used M3. G35 couple was mentioned. I really like that car. Seems like you can p/u an used G35 couple for 30K-35K...at least in the Dallas area. Been looking at a few for my fiance.

I think you meant TSX. Though both cars are built off the Accord platform, at least the TL seems to have some balls. I drove the TSX a few years ago, and for a little bit more green would take the WRX STi over it any day.
