Having a nightmare here lads, fitted new discs all round and the handbrake caliper hates me.

After finally getting the cable free (workshop manual says to simply "remove"...yeah of course...) and removing the caliper, now I have a new full thickness disc and obviously the piston needs to be retracted... but how do I do this!? the spring is at it's full extension and the piston looks as though it has some travel left although I don't want to force it as I don't know what I'm displacing by doing so.

Car is in bits right now any help would be majorly appreciated!

Well luckily a bit of thinking time later and I cleaned up the face of the piston and found two locating holes. using circlip pliers you can rotate the piston and it winds in clockwise.

    Problem solved.

Yep, you got it. If you don't have circlip pliers handy, a pair of needle nose pliers works as well.

Got a new problem now.... The handbrake cable was adjusted for the old discs which were worn, so now I can't reattach the cable because it's too tight!! and the entire undertray has to be removed to get to the adjuster!!! So sick of this job already...
