Need assistance reg whether to buy 95 348 spyder or 99 F355 spyder

    I am a considering buying a Ferrari F355 spyder however from what I have read the 355 built between 95 - 98 have problem with valves guide, so my question is is the ferrari 355 that was built in 99 fix this problem or does it also have other type of problems? I am confused because of this issue, should I buy a 99 F355 or maybe a 1995 346 spyder? Can someone please advise me to which ferrari has the least problems? Also is safe to buy a ferrari 348 or 355 with 30k miles or more even if it had a major service? And if so what would be a reasonable price to pay for 348 or 355's with this amount of mileage?

    Welcome to Ferrarichat mate. Use the search function to help answer such questions. There has been alot mentioned about the valve guide issues with 355's. :)

    Ask yourself what you are willing to spend - between the two there is about a $25k-30k price difference!!!

    1. Check all your local classified ads to get general price differences.
    2. You should do as much reading as possible about both cars.
    3. Decide which one "you" like then buy the one that suits "your" circumstances.

    I am in the same boat, deciding between 348 and 355. Love 'em both, and continually decide one is right, then the other.

    The 348: I actually prefer the look and the price, as well as the cheaper "problems" (and solutions).

    The 355: More modern, airbags, sleeker -- but I think it actually loses something in looks vs the 348. Potential issues (valve guides, etc) can be pricey. It is of course also faster! But at a $20k+ premium.

    Truthfully I'm leaning toward the 348 TS these days, but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

    Same decision points I went through...decided I really didn't care for the 348 cheese graters, too '80's for me (but to each his own!) And needed better performance...So 355 it is...now what year...95-97 cost less, but potential valve guide issues (small potential at this point I think)...just need to find the right one now.

    In times of uncertainty.........I always post a pic of my 348 to help people make the right decision. :p
    After seeing my 348 pics, if you will lean towards the 348 for 1 more day........then my job here is done. :cool::cool:

    I think the front end of the 348 is much more aggressive than the 355. The round rear lights on the 355 is prettier, but the 348 is growing on me -- especially the Speciale without the Grille on the back.

    No doubt, the 355 drop-top is awesome. If a 348ts is in your liking, mine at $45K is a steal and is a great place to start. See the FChat ad's.

    Buy the first one you see that you like and can afford, then drive it like ya stole it. I don't think there are any threads "I bought a 348/355 and wish I had bought a 355/348" or "I bought black and wish I bought red."

    Looking at these pics I can't help but think .. 348 or 355 whichever you pick .. it will be a fabulous car! It looks like nothing else on the road, sounds like nothing else and immerses you in the art and joy of driving. Happy hunting!
