    Paid a concrete contractor and he didn't pay the concrete supplier $14K nor the post tension cable company $3500. Now companies are wanting money or liens on property. Would like to have attorney contact the guy with a demand letter etc and contact the suppliers and argue that I don't have a contract with them and not my fault they granted the guy credit. Laws like this really stink as I have to be aware of all suppliers and usually pay them direct. This guy was a long time friend/referral of another builder I have known for 12 years. The guy stuck them with 3 bum jobs as well.

    Materialmen's liens, as they are referred to, vary by state. Some require filing within a certain period, etc. Fill out your profile, at least.

    Cicero;
    I'm afraid you are on the short end of the stick. If you subbed the job and the sub failed to pay it is the right of the supplier to go to the general and get the money or attatch the property with a lien--which makes it difficult for you to clear the property. I am pretty familiar with these situations as I have filed several for no payment to me. It takes a while, but I usually collect. PM me and we can discuss further. There are a couple of M.O.'s I have used to endear the supplier to me as a friend and not a combatant.

    He's known and it is not necessary. The lack of profile for this individual is on purpose due to prior issues.
