On my Computer any pics b4 the crash dont show up.
Can some one post the pics that were associated with the 84 ROAD AND TRACK cover and internal story on the 512 Berlinetta Boxer.
I have been contacted by a TV show called MAG RACK on cable that is doing a show on the 04 greenwich concours, they are spotlighting 9 winners cars with a story and info on each, the producer asked me to fwd. this article to him.
    Thanks in advance!
    Michael

Not sure what you are looking for. There is no 512 Boxer on the cover of R&T in 1984. The 9/84 issue has a "World's Fastest Cars" article that includes the 512 Boxer timed at 176.2mph, but the cover shot is the back of a Countach.

There is a 512 Boxer on the cover of the 3/78 issue.
There is a 512 Boxer and a Countach on the cover of the 2/82 issue.
There is a 512 Boxer in the PF wind tunnel on the cover of the 8/82 issue.

The front and rear bumper extensions put on the Boxer by Amerispec as part of the DOT conversion as seen in the first R&T cover are U.G.L.Y.

Ugly >>>> Agree. Didn't most people just put the original bumper back on after the car had passed certification?

    Thank you Miltonian.

My car will be spotlighted in a Greenwich concours 04 Special.
The producer will probably pan through pics as this cover shot.
I will post an air date...I believe it is an on demand pay per view.
    Thanks again, Michael

There was another cover that had a 365 BB on it. As I recall, the car was brown. Prugna maybe? The first line of the article was:

"There it sits, like a mystery ship in a fog bound harbor."

Scary that I remember it. I still have the magazine somewhere.

i think the cover you speak of is the best picture of a boxer i've seen! it was a blue boxer wrapped in fog. btw it was a federalized 512 carb car in the picture.

Ok Pete, you made me question my memory. It IS a 512 (DoH!), but it's not blue. Yes, I have it on the table in front of me. My kids and I can't decide if it's black, or dark gray. Might be grigio titanio, but I think it's darker. Of course, this is a 26 year old magazine with the appropriate faded ink. I kept it all through college and my single years. It's been in every apartment and house I've ever lived in.

I WAS right about the first line except that the end of the sentence adds 'waiting to escape'. It goes on to say:

" Enzo Ferrari's 512 Boxer, perhaps THE Ferrari; not necessarily beautiful and certainly not subtle, but powerful and aggresive. To even ask if it's fast would be stupid as that's quite evident in the smooth Pininfarina shape and the fat Michelin rubber. The only question is how fast? It's also obvious that this is a car that can be properly driven to it's limit by few....and the power of it all is so overwhelming you don't feel badly knowing you're probably not one of them."

Road and Track, March 1978. Test results show 0-60 in 5.5 secs, quarter mile in 14.2 sec @ 103.5 mph. List price $38k, price as tested $85k.
