I have driven the demo F8 Tributo twice (I have one on order), and have been VERY unhappy with the visibility out the back of the ridiculous slotted lexan engine cover. It has cutout slots that cause SIGNIFICANT distortion and multiple images. In addition, the cover vibrates right in the center, surrounding one of the cutouts. Many others who have driven the demos have mentioned the same visual problems with the cover.

I have been unable to get Ferrari to consider an easy fix as an option: a clear lexan cover - exactly the same dimensions, but without the cutouts. I have even said that I would pay a significant amount as an option. There should be plenty of time to do this, as the factory is essentially shut down, but designers could still be working normally. There is no reason they couldn't easily do this, as the molding process would be identical, merely removing the molds that create the cutout slots. Again, they could care less it seems.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that could make me a replacement once I take delivery?

You probably won't get Ferrari to do a one-off design unless you are an Oil Shiek, Russian Oligarch, or such. ...or have a personal relationship with someone who has some pull there.

You may be able to mitigate the visibility issues by applying a tinted film to the " louvers." ...or if it is just the cutouts, try to de-gloss the cutouts. Experiment with painters tape at the "cutouts" to determine what areas need to be modified.

I had an old Transam with glossy louvers and they just distorted my rear vision. I bead blasted the glossiness away from the "cutouts" and problem Solved. ... even some extra fine grit wet-sandpaper wrapped around a painter's stick may do the trick if you are patient and very detailed. If u screw up, you can always polish away small mistakes.

Re: the vibrations, a film may help if it is a harmonic distortion. Though, if it is rattle from poor fit, some thin rubber shims may help at attachment points or where is metal contact.

    ...just some thoughts.....

Wonder if the glass from a 488 might be the same shape? or another model? Just a thought. I wasn't crazy about the louvered glass the first time I saw the car either. I'd say chances are the part is outsourced to a vendor but could be wrong.
