to get one....I've done a search here and did find Italian carparts .com had one (359.00) with 150.00 core refund...

Part number is 117546 or 11754...Just wondering if anyone knows where to get one, or if a different motor will Bolt in to the old housing?

Its the Right motor and I get 12 volts to the wires that plug into the motor...the left one comes on, just not the right, even with the AC turned on.....I GUESS its a bad motor.
    Thanks

Or you can check around in your town to see if there's any shop that rebuild electric motor, usually the carbon brushes worn out after many years of usages. The motor of the wiper on my other project stopped to work, I took it apart and did some research and ordered new carbon brush for less 10 bucks, and now it works nicely.

    Good luck.

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe your 328 has the same rad fan motors as the earlier 308s, in which case it is a fairly generic fan motor. Incidentally, it's the same fan motor that's in a e-type jag, and you can get it through jaguar parts houses for about $140. Do a search here and you'll find a few threads on your fan motor, including a rebuild thread. Good luck!

Anything E-type Jag is priced at Ferrari levels.

The motor is easy to dismantle and repair, which will be a lot cheaper than replacing it, if you want to maintain the original looks. I did mine a few months ago, made some new brushes to fit, cleaned them up and repainted them, all is well.

IfI remember correct , a Nissan Pulsar fan is the same diameter ( the motor ) as the round band clamp that holds the fan, and the fan blades are the same dia too , but it blows tons more air , I installed one on my 308 GT4 , I have to wonder if the 328 and the 308 use a similar set up, I think it was less than $ 50 bucks at the local junkyard .

the 308 and 328 use different fans... I think you can substitue a large spall fan for the 328... mine are the flat kind that suck the air thru ... 308's are pushers mounted in the front... 328's are much more effecient.

    No, it's not.

The e-type price is $150 for the new replacement, the ferrari price for the same part is $350. I own both an e-type, and two 3X8 ferraris and have rebuilt or replaced the rad fan motors in all so I know first hand.

Like you, I rebuilt some of these motors and found that to be an economical and enjoyable process as well as replacing.

I see two possibilities, both should be checked out.

First, already mentioned, small motor shops abound in every town, get an estimate.

Second, there's been several posts about higher efficiency fans systems for reasonable prices ($60-$90)...a quieter motor which will cool better than the 40 yo design is worth the upgrade..

If you find a great fitting quiet blower...post the details and pictures.

Ditto. I've owned 4 E-types, plus several other Jags including a V-12 XJS, and still own a '70 E-type coupe, and I thought Jag parts were expensive -- until I started playing around with Ferraris. Ferrari parts for the 308/328/Mondials are way more expensive than Jag parts. That said, both are still expensive hobbies, even if you do it yourself on most of the work.

Many fans can be rebuilt fairly easily. The biggest problem is finding someone who can do it, if you don't want to tackle it yourself. Check local listings and talk to someone who rebuilds Bosch starters and alternators. Sometimes they do fans also, or know others in the trade who do. In our "disposable" society, we tend to want to simply throw the old one out and buy a new one when many of these old items like fans can be rebuilt good as new.

to rebuild the fan....They are different than the 308...If I can find one for say 120.00 bucks, I'd just get it and drop it in...but it looks like I'll have to get the original rebuilt.

funny thing...the car still stays Cool with just ONE running...its 98 deg in La. ...Well, temp does get to around 200, then starts to drop back after the fan takes affect...it cuts on at about 195. And that is only when the Car is Dead Stopped with no air moving over the radiator for a while.

Hello from Italy. A specialty shop here is making adapters for SPAL fans that go into the original 308GT4 fan mounts. Can someone please verify that the orriginal mounts for the Lucas fans are 65mm? I wiiant to bring home samples, test and evaluate the product, and then post everything here on FerrariChat. Thank you.
