An update on my cel problems Last time I ran the car the slow down light came on and as it turns out one of the cats was bad and had a hole in it I put on a set of capristo bypass pipes but havnt changed out the thermocouple or the o2 sensor Started it up and that's what I get P1454 and not running on all cylinders Before I go ordering more parts it there a easy way to check this
A little more info The slow down light comes on at start up and the car has no power So I am wondering if I am in some sort of hobble mode or the cat problem is a result of the power loss issues
Visually verify the CATs are not Red and Glowing on cold start when you get the slow down message? If you start with one bank you could have a hot cat on the dead side, but not the normal result of that failure mode. Does a shutdown and restart remedy the low power situation?
The new bypass pipes are not glowing at Cold start I am not sure if I am chasing several problems or Just one
I tried shutting off battery to reset the system But it's still doing the same thing I guess I will start with the thermocouple And o2 sensor and go from there
Sorry I missed the CAT delete. If you have a CATless system, then it would most likely be the thermocouple triggering the "slow down" message I believe. I would start there, check the resistance on both sides since you have one good and one bad side. It still could be a "real" issue and not a sensor issue. Dont rule out a lean burn from intake gaskets or other intake leak. Have you looked at the O2 values left and right via OBD2? If you have a WB02 (wide band O2) you could screw in each banks OEM position to test with the readings would be more accurate across a wider ratio range. But then again at Idle the AFR will oscillate fairly dramatically in closed loop. While driving it should be stable enough to determine how close to stoich you are.
