Can someone take a look at a 355 spider for me at Bentley Long Island?
If all looks good I want to send it in for a PPI.

    Does BLI have a reputation?

I guess I should have been more specific. How is their reputation? They said they did the major service for this car. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

    Thanks.

I have never purchased anything from them, so mine is probably an uninformed opinion. But I've never heard a good word about them - if you do a search for "Bentley of Long Island" or "Champion Motors", you should be able to find a thread from a year or two (or three) ago about this place... Near and far, I've heard all sorts of stuff about them...

I don't know anyone who works there - the only time I ever went there was after they closed for the night, so I could look at the Ferraris in the parking lot...

If you do decide to buy this car from them - first give me the VIN (or at least the serial number) and I'll see if we know any history on the car... Second, make sure the PPI is done by an indepedent - and by that I mean, someone who has no motivation to take one look at a BoLI car and say, "Yeah, this car's great, you should buy it!"

Just found the VIN and checked the history - all we know is they've had it for sale since May of last year; back then it was advertised with 10 less miles... So the car has moved ten miles in a year - when was the major done...?

    Thanks NNO for the info.

I will be passing. I never thought finding a ferrari would be so damn difficult.

I was there last month, most of the F-cars were immaculate.

I checked the $74k 355 Spider (not the Fiorano) out two weeks ago at the Atlantic City Car Show/Auction. I looked the car over and talked to the sales rep and it is a Euro model converted to US spec (the marker lights aren't OE). They said everything was in order and the car looked to be in very good shape, not showroom mint, but very good nonetheless.

You would have to get the car checked by a reputable place in the area with a PPI done, everything else checked out, and the registration/legalization papers reviewed. I would recommend AutoSportDesigns.com (the shop I use - ask for Antoine) or RPM (reputable shop - ask for Erik), because they are both close by and are independents and would give an honest opinion.

It looks pretty sweet and they'd probably take less than $74k for it, so if it checks out, there's no reason not to pull the trigger. Have any other questions, PM me.
    Best of luck,
    David

Nick, stay away from them. bad news . i have purchased few cars from them in the past and will never work with them. Most of their ferrari's they have for sale specialy 355 and 360 are leased out on short terms and are in horrible condition when they get it back.

what are you exactly looking for? i know of few 355's for sale.
