HI Kendrck - Welcome to the site...

Carb tuning is a common area of discussion. You will find enough info that already exists to keep you busy reading for a while if you use the F-Chat search feature on weber, tuning, A/F etc.....

Here is a link to a very good write up on the procedure. Have a look at the attached files in the tread and links to Birdman’s posted instructions.

When you get a chance - fill out the car info on the profile - it will help folks when trying to answer questions.

    Kendrik,

designr is right. Follow Birdman's advice in that thread.

And although it does not specifically address the mixture issue (IIRC), with much more than doing it by "ear", or examining the condition of the plugs over a period of time; What it outlines MUST BE DONE FIRST, to properly BALANCE the carbs before you ever try to adjust the mixture. In fact, that balancing procedure my simply fix your problem.

So, DO NOT ADJUST THE MIXTURE, without FIRST following those procedures! They are a MUST.

Afterwards, you can adjust the mixture properly with the use of Colortune plugs. Colortune plugs are special sparkplugs that let you see the mixture ignite iniside the cylinder while the engine is running. You can then set the mixture according to the color of the gas igniting inside the cylinder, while viewing the plug.

Several places sell them. You can also find them on eBay. International Auto Parts (primarily for Alfa's) also sells them. I think they cost about $50-60 bucks. But you only really need one. Although two would probably be better. Certainly faster! ;)
