I drove my car to work today and everything was good this morning and later one when I went to lunch but when I got off work today I hit the button on my remote and my car wouldn't unlock. I tried several times but nothing even though the light on the remote lights up. I unlocked the drivers door manually so I could get in and I noticed that the security light that is usually blinking wasn't on. I put the key in the ignition and everything lights up just fine and acts normal but it wont start. What is going on with my car!?!?

Immobilizer or alarm issue buddy....when you go to disarm it does it chirp. If not the car still thinks or is armed hence the car will not be able to start

No it does not chirp when I try to disarm it. Any idea how to disarm it? The battery in my red remote is only a couple weeks old, so I wouldn't think that is the problem.

Did you try a different remote?
If it still doesn't work, use the security code to disable the immobilizer. The instructions to do it are in the manual.
Silly question: Did you get the car home, or is it still at work?

Hopefully you have the PIN#. To enter the numbers you have to do a series of key on, key off cycles (the instructions are in the alarm manual). The PIN is written on a piece of paper Approx 3"X4". If it hasn't been opened yet, it looks like those checks that you get in the mail from a bank. The ones where you have to tear the edges off, once you open it the number is written inside. It almost looks like junk that you would just throw out unless you know what to look for.
I attached a picture of one that I found on a Google search so you know what to look for. Hopefully you have it in there. I've never tried to use the PIN to disable the alarm, but I've heard that it can be finicky.
Here is a prior thread that has a link to the PDF for the alarm manual in post #7:

I will check for that when I get back to work tomorrow. I'm glad I have a secure parking lot with a security guard :)

When the car is armed, doesn't the light blink? Mine isn't blinking at all.

I made it a habit to remember my PIN number and periodically practise starting the car using the key sequence.

I have experienced a low battery in the keyfob before, and the very symptoms of not being able to unlock and disarm the immobiliser..

Very handy to know how to do this incase you are left stranded at night without a convenience store in sight to buy a new battery for the FOB.

Hmmmm. I don't remember the exact light sequence. I do know that when the alarm module goes bad, the light stays lit when the car is running. Other than that, I never really paid attention to it. I also know that when it's disarmed and the car is running, the light is off. According to the manual, it seems that if it's armed, it will flash the light. If it's disarmed, the light is off.
I'm confused as to why your light is off even though you parked the car and set the alarm?
I wonder if you should try to shut the power switch in the front trunk for 5 or 10 minutes, turn it back on, then try to disarm it? Maybe your alarm just had a freak out?
I'm curious to hear if you are able to disarm it with the PIN code.

Before you go crazy, Did you try putting a new battery in the remote? I had this happen to me once last year and I changed the battery and it worked fine. Then get in touch with Gobble on here and get a second remote.

Light on the remote should be bright red, not a faint red. Also clean off the battery contacts in the remote.

If this doesn't work then try turning off the power via switch in the front trunk as Chris mentioned for 5-10 minutes, then try sequence again..

and you are getting a bright red light? I've often replaced/removed batteries because the connection just isn't good. A faint red light will appear and you really have the push down square on top of the button to make the bright red light illuminate. Whenever it's bright red the car always responds right away.

Success! It was a bad alarm fuse that is behind the drivers seat.

Wow! Good for you, that's awesome news!
The only bad part is that you have to figure out why the fuse went bad in the first place. Fuses don't fail for no reason (usually). I wonder if the battery in the alarm module is starting to fail, and something got screwey?
Does your car chirp when you arm or disarm it? If it doesn't, your alarm siren module is bad, I would start with replacing that and take it from there. If its bad, it very easy to replace and it's about $255 if you go with the OEM part. It's very common with these cars. So common that a lot of dealers don't even know the they are supposed to chirp! (US models, others don't chirp).

I called Ferrari of Central Fl and talked to Dave in service. He is a great guy and helped me track down this problem. He told me to keep an eye on it and if it happens again its going in for a full inspection. He also told me that if I prove ownership that I ca get a new PIN for my alarm system :)

    Thanks everyone!

Ok so before I had this issue my alarm would chirp when I disarmed or armed my car but now that I have replaced the fuse it does not chirp. I'm wondering if my siren module failed and blew that fuse. I put a new fuse in and everything seems fine except my alarm doesn't chirp now.
Anyone know the part number for the alarm siren module?

Those were my exact thoughts. I was going in that direction in my prior post.
Does the LED also stay lit when the car is running? If so, your alarm siren battery is toast and you need a new one either way, so I would start there.
This is the one that I bought, unfortunately, it looks like the price went up quite a bit.
    Alarm Siren- 177148: Ferrari 33 Part For 360 456 550 575M F355

You may want to shop around for the best price (AW had the best price when I bought mine). Some people have used a GM siren from the corvette with success. I'm still not convinced that it's a perfect match, but I know at least one person (vrsurgeon) that had it work perfectly for him. The GM alarm is WAY cheaper at ~$80! There is a ton of info on the forum regarding the alarm siren and the procedure for replacement. If your failure is fresh, and the PC board has not been ruined, there are instructions on replacing the battery with another rechargeable battery after cutting the original siren open. With some basic soldering skills, it shouldn't be too difficult.
