I'm a 360 Spider F1 owner from North Carolina and I'm the President of an industry association. We're looking for a resort property for our Fall conference in Sept '08 and I'd like to do it in Sonoma/Napa area.

    Details:

-Conference would be from Sat/Sun thru Tuesday morning
-The group would be about 20-25 couples so 40-50 people total.
-Having good golf either on-property or nearby is a major plus for our group.
-Of course fine dining, meeting rooms, etc. are part of what we'd need.

Our association staff has come up with 5 places for us to look at...

    1) Lodge at Sonoma
    2) Silverado Resort
    3) Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa
    4) Vintners Inn
    5) Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa

I've looked at the various websites and all look like decent options to me.

Could someone familiar with these properties help me choose??

    Thanks,
    Marc

I really like the Lodge. The restaurant is very good and the rooms are reasonably priced. Plenty to do within a short drive.

Very nice setting * 5 minutes to The Sonoma Square * great restaurants nearby * their own golf course, only 5 minutes away (Schwab Cup was just played there) * 1st Class Spa * 20 to 25 minutes to Napa/Carneros * lots of wineries * shuttle service (aka: no DUI) *affordable !!!

The Silverado Resort is great and has a golf course which may appeal to your members. It is central to the Wine Country (the Silverado Trail is the main route thru the wine country) .. you can even visit Mario Andretti's winery in Napa.

on your list the only two that satisfy immediate golf and lodging are Silverado and sonoma mission inn.

vintners and meadowood have or are near nine hole courses.

There are a few other courses in the Napa area that are fun: Eagle Vines, Chardonnay (27 holes), and Hiddenbrook. These have no hotel but are not too far a drive from napa. They would be a haul from sonoma.

Meadowood has a 9 hole "hickory" course. It's quite fun. You play with hickory clubs (niblicks, mashies, etc.) and the heavy balls from 100 years ago. The pro wears period garb and walks with you, telling stories and giving instructions.

1st of all...you really can't go wrong with any of the posted suggestions. They are all fantastic and you'll be the hero on whichever you choose.

My 2 cents - I have done Meadowood, Silverado, the Lodge, and Sonoma Mission Inn. Sonoma Mission Inn edged all the others by a wee bit for overall experience on facilities, lodging, golf, and food.
