Need Help:F355 Side View Mirror Wiring

Robert- Volume 3 of the F355 workshop manual has color coded wiring diagrams for the mirrors. If you do not have a copy, you can download one for free from ferraridatabase.com. The color codes are spelled out on the first page of the wiring diagrams.

 

Robert- Figure 9 in Section L does not tell you what each wire does, it just shows you where they all go. Deciphering wiring diagrams is not one of my strong suits, so you may need professional help.

 

I'm not sure if the 355 has the same issues with the door/body connector plugs. I have repaired my 348 door electrical problems by freeing up the wiring that flexes when the door is opened and closed. This harness was originally installed a little to tight and the harness was pulled and flexed at the plastic plug, eventually breaking off the wires at the plug pins.

 

I am sure you have cleaned the switch with contact cleaner. I had the same problem with my old BMW and a squirt of cleaner and working the switch back and forth a bunch has led to resolve all of the contact problems.

 

If the mirror works in one direction but not the other, then all the wiring to the mirror is ok. The switch just reverses the current flow to change direction. For up/down operation it is the same thing. I would either take the mirror switch apart and clean the contacts inside or replace it with a new switch.
