    Hi guys,

I have been reading your posts about the ‘brotherhood’ for years now and it is about time to start my 355 project so I am hoping you can help me out with some info. I live in the Chicagoland area and I need a frame shop (within reasonable distance) that can straiten the frame on my 355. It was hit in the driver’s side rear quarter panel causing the mounting locations for the engine cradle (rear subframe) to be pushed off a bit. The upper mounts need to be replaced but I should be able to have the lower mounts pulled. Does anyone have any experience with this and know of a good shop to do the work? I could use a little of your wisdom…

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I would contact your local FNA dealer service dept. They will know which shops have the most experience with Ferraris, and have the expertise to assist you.

I will get you the VIN.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already talked to the local dealer and they were able to refer me to a shop but I always prefer a second opinion. Customers are always more picky then the dealers are when they get their cars back from the body shop.

There must be a couple of people who have needed to have work done to their F cars......

A note of caution. My 348 got hit in the driver side front bumper. The very best shop in town (worked on ferrari's before), improperly straightened the nose which caused the gap to be too large between the new bumper ($4k) and the body. So they tightened the rubber backed bolts holding it on and ripped the metal brackets out of the new bumper. The shop in another State that specializes in ferrari, found the problem when they pulled things apart to paint. I took pictures back to the original shop and they claimed that I had got in another accident and tried to blaime them! In the long run, it doesn't cost that much to find a good shop and drive/haul the car. One more thought, ferrari shops can find body parts that are no longer available or have secret stashes. Oh yeah, about 25k for smashed bumper and headlight! Yikes. Also the reason the car is visiting my brother for a couple of weeks so he can put the first rock chip in it. YMMV.

What is the name of the shop in another State? Anywhere close to the midwest? I don't mind going for a road trip but I would prefer not to go to CA ;)
