    I just found a "Compact Flash" card with many important pictures on it and am not able to transfer the images to my computer. Whenever connect the camera (Cannon Powershot S40) it says that it found new hardware and asks me for an installation disk, which I don't have. Is there any way around installing the software to get these images on to my computer?

    Do you have a card reader?

    If not, you might as well install the software. If you don't have the software/CD, go online to their website, and search for Drivers and Downloads, many companies have their drivers online.
