Ok, so the car is a 2008 Ferrari F430 Spyder with around ~20k miles (yes, high). My dad's friend is offering the car to him next year for a "good price" and chances are we would buy it. What would be considered a good price for a this car with its milage? And is it worth buying the car with 20k miles or will have too many problems?

Also how is the maintenance for these cars? I knew a couple Ferrari owners and they say a small trip to the garage can cost as much as 6k for a small job. I think theyre exaggerating a bit but i'd like to know your input.

And what would we be looking at for insurance? What are you guys paying for your Ferraries right now? Would give us an idea. And getting it insured to an 18 yr old as well?

Thanks for the help . :)

Well, high mileage IMO is better than low mileage. As long as the car has been well cared for.

It should still be under warranty, and had most if not all of the major issues fixed, because they were bound to happen by now. So ultimately, I don't think the car should be discounted too much. I would personally say 150-170 would be my best guess for a coupe, add another 5-10k for a spyder.

I am 28yrs old, have an 07 spyder, and pay 110.00 ish per month with a 500.00 deduct from State Farm.

Look into American Family Insurance. They gave me a combo package for both home and auto. They saved me 300 / year on my home owners insurance, and also got the 2001 F360 spider down to $750 / year. State Farm was about $1000 / year. I am 41 though and a very clean record. I am registered as the only driver.

As to insurance it depends on YOU and your situation.

State Farm uses something called an Insurance Score.

If your score is high, your rate is LOW, and you'll be going w/ State Farm.

If not, you'll be going with someone else.

    So shop around.

We have a score 7 points below the top possible score, and I pay well under
$1000/yr for VERY full coverage on a 2007 F430 Spider.

a Ferrari 430 insured by an 18 year old...

Let me guess probably $5000++ a year - lol.

I would bet also many insurance companies will not even insure it to an 18 year old...

I have a 2008 spider. Maintenance is not a big deal. It's under warranty for another couple of years so figure about $1500 to $2000 in annual upkeep. It's one of the F430's advantages over previous models. Spiders came with a 4 year warranty so you should have about 2 years left.

But, you need to do this every year whether you drive the car or not. Keeping good maintenance (and records) will hold the value and keep you from having problems.

I would really get it checked out though before buying it. Being an 08 it has carbon ceramic brakes. If they are worn or damaged, it could run you $20 grand to replace them.

Also, the clutch should be looked at. However, with that many miles in such a short period, it may have a lot of highway miles on it.

As to insurance, a lot of us use State Farm. I would check with them and see if you can transfer everything you have (home, cars, etc) to them to get bigger discounts. An 18 year old though is going to be a big problem. I'm not sure I would put an 18 year old in the seat period but that's your choice.

I would put it this way... if the car checked out OK and had 20K miles on it, it would not bother me at all. The F430 is one heck of a car.

One thing for sure, you don't need to worry about the motor at this mileage IF it has good records of proper maintenance. The dealer should have the records.

Good price? Hard to say. It depends on the colors, options, condition, etc. The best thing to do is search online for other 08's that seem to be similar and work down from there. I don't think you'll find another 08 with 20K miles.

Good luck and post us some pics if you buy it.
