Hello all. I would like to organize an exotic car charity event to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My sister in law has Cystic Fibrosis, a really shi**y disease that affects the lungs and pancreas. I won't bore or depress anyone with details, other than to say it is incurable and life threatening. She is 25 now and her life expectancy is probably only about 32. For anyone interested, here's a link to a video she did about 18 months ago

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjFiOxRNAnY

There have been medical advances. But, naturally, until a cure is found, the CF Foundation needs money to fund research. So, I figure I'll tap a bunch of people who can afford expensive toys. The thing is, I have never organized anything like this in my life. I need help.

For anyone interested enough to still be reading this, here's what I know I have: an excellent restaurant in Tuckahoe, NY with a decent size parking lot that has agreed to host a lunch ( I am trying to get permission from the bank across the street to use their large lot as well); a couple of small corporate sponsors; my own Lambo & a couple of friends with nice cars; and very attractive sister in law with CF.

I can probably get 1 or 2 Sopranos actors to appear.

That's about it. Like I said; I could really use some help. Anyone interested, please contact me at 914-592-0601 or Kfaga@***asavino.com. Thank you.

Thanks to all who have offered their presence and/or assistance. I saw my sister in law, Katy, in the hospital over the weekend. She's very appreciative.

I know many of you are from Long Island. But, based on what I've seen, there are fewer events in the Westchester/Fairfield area, so I'd like to plan it for that area. My thought right now is to drive from Westchester to Bear Mountain and back, about a 75 mile loop. We can go up one side of the Hudson River and down the other. If we plan it for end of September, it should be a pretty drive.

The director of the local CFF Chapter said we can donate the money through the team Katy has established for the annual Great Strides Walk.

I continue to appreciate all assistance and suggestions. I could use some help with what to offer sponsors. Do I do a little leaflet with ad space? ask for product samples for goody bags? I don't know

    Thanks again,
    Kevin

Unfortunately, I have gotten hit from all sides at work, and have been unable to devote any time to this. I took a second look at the parking lot of the restaurant I had planned on hosting, but it only holds 25 cars. They are open for business on any given Sunday, which means parking will be reduced. So, I'm having thoughts on venue.

I wish I had better news.

    Kevin,

I'm going to do some research. I may be able to come up with a venue here in NJ.

Everyone else -- let's get together and make this happen. I'd host at my store but our parking is VERY limited, i.e. 10 cars max.

I think finding a place to host it somewhere relatively close to CT and NY would be key. Not only will you get the NY and NJ cars, you will get the CT and Mass cars as well. I agree that finding a big open lot that can hold many cars is going to be key as well. It seems that there are alot of people here interested in making this happen, so if we can get the lot, I'm confident the rest will fall into place.

I advised Kevin that I am a photographer from CT and do alot of things for car show marketing like programs and posters etc.. So I will be willing to do whatever I can to help out. This is a great cause!

Once again, I thank all of you who have shown interest in attending or helping out. Here's where I am. I found a venue in White Plains, on a main road with a parking lot that holds over 60 cars, plus on street parking. We can eat lunch and spend as much time as we want there. There is a room inside where we can set up a silent auction, if we get goodies.

I would like to find a place in Northern NJ, where we can all meet up in the morning and take a drive to White Plains. The date keeps getting pushed back. But I believe we'll still be OK and have good weather on October 11.

So, here are the areas where I would really appreciate help from you, my exotic car friends.
    1. Finding a location in Northern NJ with a big parking lot, where we can meet, have coffee and use a starting point.
    2. getting sponsors to donate either money or goodies to be auctioned, or both
    3. Getting your exotic car friends to participate in the event. The more people we have coming, the more ammunition I have to hit sponsors with. Please email me to register. (Since this is for charity, there will be a registration fee of $50, which includes lunch for the driver) When you email, please give me your name, car info and a phone # where I can reach you, just in case.

    Thank you all very much,
    Kevin

    1. Location: I know of a few spots where you have close access to the highway. First would be the NJ Turnpike Rest Area between exits 11&12 or the one around exit 16. Named both since I was not sure if you were taking the GW into NY or the Verazzano.

You could also try the Cloister's in Manhattan

Starbucks in Edgewater near the Home Depot. Used to run out Exotics Rally events out of there. LARGE parking lot. You can fit TONS of cars there.

    2. Try dealerships or small venders that make parts for the cars. They usually like getting their names out there if the costs are no so bad.

    3. I will pass along to friends with vehicles and hopefully get you a nice group.

Viper- I was thinking of driving up the Palisades Parkway and over the Tappan Zee Bridge. So, Starbucks in Edgewater or the rest area that is furthest north would be the call. I'll look into both places today.

Everyone- can I ask you all to reach out to any potential sponsors you can think of? As this is for charity, every dollar helps. I don't want to scare anyone away becuase I charge too much for sponsorship. Let's ask for $500 in goods or services to auction or a check. (payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation)

    You're the best. Thanks.

    Kevin

I am very excited to say that we have a slight change in plans. We are not going to White Plains anymore. We are going to end the Run with a brunch at the Olde Stone Mill in Tuckahoe, NY. They have been gracious enough to help me secure a table at Rao's to be included in our silent auction.

The registration fee of $50 per car will include brunch for the driver. Additional guests are welcome, of course. They will also pay $50 a plate for brunch.

We have the details worked out. I am starting a new post with the information. By the way, I still need donations of items for the silent auction. Thanks.

Thanks Joe. Looks we have 20-30 cars at this point. But, I can't be sure. Can I ask anyone who plans on coming to email your name, address, email address and type of car to me at kfaga@***asavino.com? The restaurant is asking for an estimated head count. The more information I have and can provide, the smoother this thing will, hopefully, go.

    Thank you all.
