Hello my friends, I m going to rebuild my 355 clutch and would like to make my tool to remove the nut on photo. I know how to do but need the size.I tried to look on the car but I need to remove the exhaust.I would prefer toi make the tool before to remove it like that I can still drive my car for a week more... Do you have the sizes please ? thanks Nico Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Why to buy something I can make myself ? for 0$ ...I have done the tool to put the disc in the center when i done clutch on my 348, but I did not build this one.. thanks for help.
I bought them a set of whhel bolts very good quality but this is different from a tool I will use one time.
a universal 'c' spanner could remove this, would save alot of hassle... if ur still stuck a hammer and punch should remove it handy enough aswell... its not butchering... plenty of people have done it.
Removing isn't the problem. It's re-installing with proper torque. Hammer and punch can't guarantee you that proper torque is reapplied upon re-installation.
Just buy a cheap socket and some woodruf keys. Weld the keys onto the outside of the socket and your all set. Should take only a few minutes to make.
very true, buy he only asked how to remove it ;op lol. know of the same people that use the hammer/chisel technique to tighten it. proper torque to them obviously doesn't matter. but as far as i can remember this big nut is for adjustment so positioning is more important (if i'm wrong please correct me. i tend to deal with newer cars more). so once its 'sweetly' tight it should be grand. p.s... thats a shiney clutch housing you have. its a credit to its owner.
many thanks for this reply Making a tool is better to respect the good torque you are true. I will make pics of it when done. What is the good torque to re-install it ? many thanks nico
or a piece of pipe, ground to fit with a square hole in the top for the wrench. Works good...original tool is beaucoup dollares
I tried a home made tool on mine which was insufficient. I also tried to avoid buying a tool for one time use but did end up buying the Hill tool. That nut was very tight, someone had applied thread lock. That tool is very accurately made and I can not imagine trying to remove that nut without it, worth every penny. A little tip, loosen (and tighten) the nut with the housing still fitted to the car - makes it easier.
Pappy's home made tool. Worked a treat too. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice job and a red tool is faster than another ! Im making mine at the moment too.I finaly removed the clutch today, there is some oil in the mecanism, a little oil leak on the trust bearing, nothing realy bad...I will make : disc + clutch TO bearing seals+bearing+repack flywheel because it is noisy , even if the kluber grease did not went out...I hear many clac clac at the back of the clutch even if it work well.. Will send pics soon Thanks
Cool, looking forward to seeing pics. I did not replace my bearing and I had 34,000km when I replaced my clutch. So...........spin it and see if it feels fine. If it spins smooth and does not feel 'grumbly', then I would not worry about it. But your car, your money mate.

I ordered in at local dealer the 3 seals but can not find the bearing ref skf 13 13 1 13 631107B I have contacts with Ferrari parts dealers non official and will order soon but I need to know with type is mine because there are 2 types of clutch release biring for 355...dont know if mine is like 348 or not As sonn as I get the seals I will tell you costs and refs. I just understood right now that to open the flywheel ther is a circlips to remove under the bearing ! I will make a photo of it because never seen it on this forum and did not understood all the words of the text descibing the procedure.
