Went out to the car, dead. Jumped - let idle for 10mins, restart...tic, tic, tic. So, looks like battery is shot. Is my next step to remove wheel and replace battery and if so - what's the best choice?

    Thanks

The interstate is a good battery and I installed one as well but make sure to put a meter on the battery with the car started to make sure your alternater is pumping out 14 plus volts. A bad alternater will just ruin a new battery.

I would restart the car with the old battery and then check the charge rate before i install a new battery. The auto-electrician and i were only discussing this same problem last night at work. I was told that an alternator can fail/not charge the battery, without putting the battery light on the dash indicating a fault in the charging circuit, if it fries the dash light circuit in the regulator. Not saying thats the case here for Gershwin, but you never know. Good luck mate. :)

    Yikes!

That may all be very true, Pap...but be certain to charge up the old battery prior to running the car. These Ferrari alternators overheat and fail easily, and charging a dead battery will cause quite a current spike (and the heat follows).

As Mike says, the yellow top is a "deep cycle" and is designed to withstand repeated deep discharges that would severely shorten the life of their standard or any standard battery.

BTW, if you decide the yellow top better fits your needs, 700cca is more than enough for the 355.
