    any suggestions on who to deal w/: I need a full size something for 2 weeks and will drop it in Florida, 1000k miles from where I began. Any one of the big companies more apt to work a deal on a one way rental w/out bending me over?

    There are soo many rental companies out there, you'll have to call and get specific rates. Different states can charge different prices and that all depends on what vehicles they have at the time.

    If you have an American Express Platinum, or higher, they will do the work for you. Just call them and they can find you a company. I have found their rates to be better as well.
