Guys, Even though I have a custom exhaust (no muffler), I'm toying around with picking up a true challenge exhaust since it's OEM and a more clean pipe arrangement. I have already purchased the mounting bracket needed from Bruce. However, what I need to know: Does the challenge exhaust come with a welded bung for the thermocouple similar to the regular muffler? See image: (note, this is an aftermarket image) The bung should be near the red circle. Image Unavailable, Please Login
here's my factory challenge exhaust. not sure if the bung was added later (likely). but here is how I have it capped off.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Mike. I need to know if the bung will be present if I purchase a new one as I want to keep the TC active. Unless you want to sell me yours
Daniel at Ricambi should be able to answer, but I'm leaning towards "no" ...it would have to be added afterwards
There's no bung on the Factory Challenge exhaust. If your current exhaust is from Top Speed, then the pipe arrangement is identical to the Challenge exhaust... . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Barry Little off topic here Does the trans pumpkin cooler have air lines to help cool from the ground effects I been playing with a different areo package for underneath and including new cooling feeds
Barry, my current (custom) exhaust was made many years ago by Dave Ninehouse in AZ (don't know anything about him). The Top Speed does not have the bung but they said they would add it for me. The top speed photo looks pretty darn good - better than OEM.
You look at the tubi challange Dave, very leight weight I will grab my postal scale and weigh it edit While were posting Challenge type exhausts Here is the Tubi 9lbs 1.2 oz , Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have not, Tim. I really don't need this - just want to play so I need to keep the cost way down. The top speed is under $700
Tim, the heat shield has incorporated scoops to channel air to the clutch at speed... . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dave, The Top Speed exhaust is 304 Stainless Steel. It looks like an excellent alternative to the Factory unit. Barry
I've got a top speed sitting in my garage that I haven't gotten around to installing. Hopefully my next days off I can get it done. I want to see how it sounds compared to the Tubi. Then I will sell one or the other.
Call them on the phone, tell then you seen them at a car show and he said he would give you a great price. I forgot the guys name, they are pretty good folks
I have no issues with my current exhaust, although I did get my first CEL the other night. I've not yet scanned to get the code but I'm sure it has nothing to do with the exhaust. See image: Image Unavailable, Please Login
You're welcome, Tim. Right now, with the Challenge exhaust in place, the heat shield is functioning solely as a clutch cooler. When the Challenge muffler is in place, for tracks with noise restriction, the assembly also serves as a heat shield... . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, that looks nice. You do not have a sound clip do you? I feel the TUBI is just not cutting it for me anymore. Getting my engine out done in Nov so I am trying to figure something out.
