I haven't used my CTEK 3000 for a couple of months. Upon plugging it in yesterday, I don't think it's working. First, it's very cool to the touch when it normally is slightly warm while charging. Second, the top row of lights isn't working. The bottom row, which shows which mode it's in, lights up properly. But nothing is showing on the top row. I've unplugged it from both the wall outlet and the battery connection, then plugged it back in but don't get any new results.
Could it still be working and just the top row of lights has burned out? Is there a way to reset? Or is it spent?
    Thanks in advance.

If your battery is empty, the CTEC won't start charging and the top row of lights will not light up.

I haven't seen a CTEK 3000 before, are you sure it's not a CTEK Multi US 3300? I've attached the Multi US 3300 troubleshooting guide - see 3rd comment in the guide.

An easy way to check if the charger is working at all is to use a voltmeter, and an amp meter if you also have one of those. First check the car battery with the volt meter to see what its resting voltage is (is it above 2.2V?), then attach the charger while you watch the voltmeter to see if the voltage rises. Depending on the state of your battery, the charger will bulk charge at 14.4V if you have it in car-charging mode or at 14.7V if you have it in snowflake/AGM battery mode.

Your battery at rest will register well below 13V so you should see its voltage rise after you connect the charger. If you also have an amp meter you will detect rise and fall in amperage draw as the charger goes through its paces.

No, the battery is not empty. The car started perfectly on its own today. I connected it to the charger as a preemptive move, as I'm going on the road and will be gone for a good while and didn't want to come home to a dead battery.
    And thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your response and for sending the guide. I must have named the charger wrong. I didn't have it in front and me, and don't now, but if there's no CTEK 3000, it must be the US 3300. It's hard to check the charger with another car because it has a flat plug connection. But as I mentioned above, the car starts fine, so the battery couldn't be too low for the charger to function. This charger came with my 430 and I've used it several times, so it's strange for this to happen.
I will do some more trouble-shooting based on the guide you sent me. Thanks again.

IMHO if you are going on the road and want peace of mind then if you can go get a new CTek. Its not worth the worry or worse- if theres an actual fault with the tender. I suggest the 7002 as it seems to do better with surges/ brownouts etc than the 3300.

Thanks for the good advice. My battery is pre-wired to accept a flat connector, rather than clips. Does the 7002 come stock with that type of connector?
