    Hi guys,

I'm putting together a sports car database for an application I'm making (which will be used by Ferrari owners, among others). Anyhow, I'm a little stumped on Ferrari. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to fill in the blanks and/or correct my mistakes? I'd greatly appreciate the help.

If you can, just post whatever edit below and I'll make the change in this post. Thanks!

Here's what I've got so far:

(NULL value in End Year indicates the model is still in production.)

Thanks in advance for your help!!! :)

    - Steve

    Oh, forgot to add...

I have "365 GT4" under Daytona and Berlinetta Boxer... were there actually 2 different 365 GT4's, or am I mixing up my data somewhere?

    Thanks! :)

Your best source would be to pick up a recent Cavallino magazine, that is the best list I know of.

    Rob,

Do they have all the model history of the entire Ferrari line? Where would I pick that up?

    Thanks,

    Steve

You're going to have a hard time having a single range for each model -- e.g., although 1979 was the last carbed 308 model year in the US, carbed 308 were made and sold elsewhere in 1980. Also, US TR had the 1991 model year (and there were no 1991 US 512TR) even though 1991 512TR were available elsewhere.

    365 GT4 2+2 ... successor to 365 GT 2+2. Same engine as C4, very different body.

The 356 GT4 2+2, 400 GT, 400i GT, and 412 all have essentially the same body, but the engine changes. Most significant change is carbs to fuel injection.

Ok, now I'm even more confused. :) So when you group Ferrari models together, do you do that by engine, body style, or both? Would you group the 365 GT4 2+2 with the 365 GT 2+2, the C/4, or the 400 GT series? And what would you call them all?

Ugh. :( Looks like I'm gonna have to become a Ferrari expert to get this right (as if that's a bad thing, lol).

Good point... I guess I want to keep the year ranges as broad as possible so that they're all-inclusive (US and otherwise). Down the road, I'll probably include model variations to distinguish US cars from their Euro (et. al.) counterparts.

The 365GT2+2, 365GTC/4, and 365GT4 2+2 are all distinct and I wouldn't group them together. The 365GT4 2+2, 400 and 412 series are all related.

    See Steve's reply. Agree 100%

Depending upon your objective, it's probaby just as easy to build your database via engine cylinders, then years of production. Anything beyond that will eventually cause you loss of sleep!!
