I usually collect in 1/18 and 1/32 scale but sadly there are few Ferraris that I want that come exclusively in 1/43 scale.

Do any of you have experience with the following brands:
    - Art Model
    - Best
    - Brumm - I have a Ferrari 156 by this brand and wasnt impressed
    - Top Model
    - Bang
    - ixo

I want something that has decent details and not something that makes you go ughhh...

All the above brands fall in the under $50 category while Redline Models and BBR are in the above $100 category. Unfortunately they are both beyond my budget.

Also, I had bought a Quartzo 1/43 before and thought it was really lousy - they seemed to have come with new set of F1 cars in the 1/18 size - has the quality improved.

    Thanks

Does a good job in the vintage category. I particularly like their 166 MM's (Barchetta and Berlinetta), 340 Mexico and 206 SP.

    - Best
Their 512BB was a bit dissapointing, but their 330 GTC/GTS and 275 GTB/GTS (spyder N.A.R.T.) look mighty fine.

    - Brumm
512M and 330P3/P4/412P are imho very good from this brand. Also very nice early eighty (and earlier) F1 cars. They come really cheap and give very good value for money.

    - Top Model
Not really up my alley, but sometimes they get it right, as they did on their 500 Mondial and 340 America.

    - Bang
One of my favorite none-handbuilt brands. Their 250 GTE (semi-handbuilt) (series 1 and series 2/3!) is awesome. Some of us have mistaken it for a BBR. Also look for their 250 SWB, 250 LWB and 456 GT and F355.

    - ixo
Also very nice for the money. Their 288 GTO and F40 are a bit below parr, but I like their F430 and Enzo quite alot. Connected with the 'Fabbri' brand, which did some less obvious models, like a very good 512 Codalunga, 365 GTC/4, 328 GTB and 550 Barchetta. In the same range you can get a 400 Superamerica and 330 GTS for example, but I am not too crazy about those.

I forgot to mention the ArtModel 250P and the Best 250 GT Lusso. Both very well made.

    Happy collecting!

Don't forget Minichamps. 333SPs are nice, and some more modern road cars. I think Replicarz has one of the best varieties of the brands you mentioned.

Don't forget that Bang did alot of 348 Challenge cars too

There was also a point in 1994 or so when Best replaced all their vintage Ferraris wire wheels with BBR wheels.

Which for me meant rebuying the entire series of the upgraded models. There were also a number of cross promo models between Best and BBR too

Ah! I've always thought those wire wheels were exceptionally good.

Bang has also done a lot of F355 challenge cars by the way.

BRUMM....hit/miss...the 1971/72 312PB prototypes and 1970 312B Grand Prix cars are very good. I just picked up the 1981 Gilles Villeneuve Monaco winner 126CK and was most impressed.
    BEST.....very very good, I have a few.
    SPARK/BIZARRE....excellent.
MINICHAMPS......excellent....i have a few of the Formula 1 and 333SPs
