    1. It requires years and years of higher education.
    2. It is largely a "female" profession.
    3. It occasionally involves crawling around on the floor.
    4. I generally incur some sort of minor injury every other week or so.
    5. Daily dress is decidedly casual.
    6. Although remote, I probably have a greater chance of actually meeting a hippo face-to-face, so to speak, than me (the engineering professor).

    WHAT PROFESSION IS THIS?

I'm thinking a gynecologist or a daycare professional. But being a licensed daycare provider requires little more than a short course and some paperwork so that doesn't seem likely.

Based on no. 2 is it a mother? No. 1 is thereby referring to evolution/heavenly education and no. 6 eluding to taking kids to the zoo?

I thought stripper except "it requires years and years of higher education" killed it, but the rest fit.

Thanks guys but we're all wrong. Here are some additional clues. I need to know what profession this is.

    1. I had to go to about four more years of school than the kindergarten teacher
    2. But, like a kindergarten teacher, my charges also often go around on all fours, though the occasional three- or two-legged stance is possible.
    3. At one point in my career, I spent a lot of time in the mud. Frequently with other women, in fact. However, all were fully clothed.... sorry.
    4. I charge for my services or, rather, someone else charges and for my services and then gives me what is left over after his take.
    5. I had to get shots in order to do what I do.
    6. Finally, again like the kindergarten teacher, getting piddled on occasionally is an unavoidable hazard of the job.

Ken, i'm thinking it's some kind of (small-time?) entertainer...? (performing for children, etc.) But i don't understand your original #6... Can you explain that to me...?

LOL... Chris, easy on the "sugar" you've been sprinkling on your Wheaties, ok, buddy...? :)

Actually, that's not a bad thought; could be something more along the lines of someone who milks cows, but i don't understand why that would be, predominantly, a female profession... Most of the things Ken posted seem to fit...

Carbon, your guess is just as good as mine. I would assume taking kids to a zoo.

Here is a complete set of clues:

I guessed kindergarten teacher but was wrong. Kindergarten teacher was close, the response was ‘I was barking on the tree next to the right tree’. Then I was given the following additional clues.

    7. I had to go to about four more years of school than the kindergarten teacher
    8. But, like a kindergarten teacher, my charges also often go around on all fours, though the occasional three- or two-legged stance is possible.
    9. At one point in my career, I spent a lot of time in the mud. Frequently with other women, in fact. However, all were fully clothed.... sorry.
    10. I charge for my services or, rather, someone else charges and for my services and then gives me what is left over after his take.
    11. I had to get shots in order to do what I do.
    12. Finally, again like the kindergarten teacher, getting piddled on occasionally is an unavoidable hazard of the job.

    Profession must meet ALL requirements.

What I know so far: not a vet, not a kindergarten teacher, and not a daycare provider. Keep guessing...can be anything.

I would expect that it is either a trophy wife or a VERY expensive executive escort.

Both would meet the awful job requirements.
