Just found my ipod that has been lost for a year and here's my problem; I have about 2000 songs on my itunes that I just finished organizing. I spent 2 weeks deleting, correcting artists, and establishing genres for each song. It took a great deal of time and effort to do this. Anyway, my ipod was loaded last year with the old, unorganized files.

I am afraid to hook it up to the computer because I don't want to corrupt the nice little library I have with the old mixed up stuff. Basically all I want to do is delete what's on the ipod now without affecting my itunes library as it currently is on itunes and reload the new, organized songs on the ipod.

    Help, please...

Whenever I reorganize or change things on my Itunes, my Ipod always reflects the changes done to Itunes. You could always reformat your Ipod so there's nothing on it before you sync it to Itunes.

What you'll need to do is hook it up to another system if you can find one. When you do that, don't SYNC. Instead, register it on that system, but also set it to MANUALLY update. It is a check box. Once you do that, you should be able to go back to the other system, the original organized system, and drag/drop copy over stuff.

Download 7.3 and get an Iphone. We just got back from dinner with friends. My son plugged my phone into the car stereo, downloaded some Bob Marley on the Iphone through YouTube, and watched the video ,while listening through the car stereo...downloaded from a cell phone. Priceless. And I was just getting used to the 8 track player in one of my older cars.

your computer overwrites the ipod. They made it so you have to sync it. If you do manually manage songs it will send over the songs but wont fix the re name problems

update your firmware, download the update from apples website, don't check on itunes to open when an ipod is connected when you update the ipod you have to plug it back into a wall outlet but you get the option th format the entire disk. this should work for you.

    Dr Tommy,

You have nothing to worry about. iTunes legally will not upload any music from the iPod to your computer. Syncing is always one way from your computer to iPod. Sync away!
